A new controversy has emerged in the streaming community, as Twitch streamer Cody "Clix" got swatted at a mall. During an IRL livestream on September 14, 2024, the Fortnite content creator disclosed that someone from his community swatted the mall he was broadcasting from. Furthermore, Clix stated that he was unable to leave the premises because the swatter reported that an active shooting was taking place.
Expressing his disbelief at the situation, the 19-year-old stated:
"We can't get out of the mall because one of you guys swatted the mall and said there was a shooting going on in here next to my f**king car. All the f**king stores are locked down, and we literally can't get out of the f**king building. I literally can't believe this f**king happened!"

While claiming that people were "screaming and crying" at the mall because of the circumstances, the XSET co-owner said that the police believed he was the "shooter":
"Nobody can f**king get out. Girls are f**king screaming and crying, bro. Bro, I'm in disbelief right now, bro. Like, I'm in so much f**king shock. That's why I had to put it down. The cops f**king think it's me. Bro, and now they think I'm the one f**king shooting it up."
The Twitch streamer added:
"Yeah, dude, this world is super f**ked up. Anyone in the mall can't get out and every single door has chains over it. I'm going to stream, I'm sorry, bro."

Later that day (September 14, 2024), Clix contacted Nick "FaZe Lacy" via FaceTime to provide details about the swatting incident. The Fortnite pro stated that he was brought in for questioning because the police believed he attempted a mass shooting.
He elaborated:
"The person wearing this (the streamer shows his clothes) is about to shoot the mall. So, bro, I'm here for questioning and I can't get my car back. They actually believe that I'm f**king... they actually are, like, thinking I'm the one doing it. I swear to god."
After Lacy asked if Clix had informed the police that he was livestreaming, the latter revealed that the bomb squad had arrived at the mall due to the circumstances.
On the same day, Clix took to X to claim that things were "good." The content creator also said he would "talk about everything" on Monday, September 16, 2024.
