Popular internet personality Tobias "Tubbo" has accused Minecraft star Clay "Dream" of profiting by keeping his sexuality "ambiguous." On January 12, 2025, Tubbo responded to Dream's recent livestream, in which the American streamer addressed the controversy involving him and Thomas "TommyInnit."
During his stream, Tubbo decided to share an "uncharitable view" of Dream, claiming that the 25-year-old "made a lot of money" by not being straightforward about his sexuality:
"This is a very uncharitable view from me. I'm about to give... full disclaimer - I'm about to give a very uncharitable view and this is one time I'm not going to give the bod. I think Dream has made a lot of money from keeping his sexuality ambiguous... and I think that's the only reason why he won't be like, 'I'm outright straight.' Again, that's a very uncharitable view. Very uncharitable!"
Explaining why he found the situation "disappointing," the Briton stated:
"But, it's just disappointing... because I just really don't like that that's happened. And I don't like the domain, dnf.gay, points to a merch store. And I don't like that he just said, 'I'm not gay, Nick," and then followed up with, 'Nicholas doesn't know my sexual orientation,' with the backtrack."
Tubbo went on to say that people end up "queer-baiting" when there is a financial incentive involved:
"I just feel like queer-baiting in real life and real people can't queer-bait. I genuinely believe that. I believe that real people can't queer-bait. I genuinely believe that. However, when there's money involved, and you can make a s**t ton of money off of the Pride Community, I think there is an incentive for you to act gay when you are not to make money! And I think that exists, and we already know that exists with the amount of corporate sponsorships at Pride Parades and events. We already know that there's money in Pride."

"My personal dislike for Dream" - Tubbo on his claims about the Minecraft streamer profiting from the Pride Community
Continuing the tirade, Tubbo claimed that his accusation that Dream made "a lot of money" from the Pride Community stemmed from a "personal dislike" for the Florida native:
"Now, it's uncharitable, and I will say my personal dislike for Dream, like, bias is showing. And it's a very uncharitable view. But it is genuinely what I think."
Dream has yet to respond to Tubbo's recent comments amid their ongoing feud.
