Felix "PewDiePie," once considered the most subscribed YouTuber, has taken a step back in the content creation sphere and has chosen to upload fewer times now. His catalog nowadays includes lifestyle vlogs, Minecraft gameplay, and reaction videos. He also streams fairly consistently. On Twitch, he usually broadcasts old videos of himself constantly, in what he proclaims an "infinity stream."
During a particular incident on October 12, while an old upload of PewDiePie playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent was being broadcast, the stream's channel got taken down. This caused the video to abruptly stop. In light of this, the viewership count dropped by over 88%, from 225 to 26 viewers.
Before this, On October 3, 2024, PewDiePie's Twitch channel faced a brief suspension alongside those of Shroud and Lirik. The ban was likely tied to recent changes in Twitch's community guidelines, specifically targeting impersonation and unoriginal content.
Adding to his list of bans, his channel got taken down twice in 2023 when it was reactivated for the "infinity stream." In May, he was banned for undisclosed reasons. Later, in July 2023, he was banned again under similarly mysterious circumstances, likely related to reruns of old content violating Twitch’s guidelines, possibly due to copyrighted material or outdated content standards.
In total, Felix's Twitch channel has been banned four times in total, twice in 2023 and twice in 2024.
PewDiePie's channel unbanned after 13 minutes of being taken down
Along with PewDiePie, Shroud, and Lirik, who both have channels that stream their older content 24/7, were banned as well. 13 minutes after this, all three accounts were back online.
The reason for this repeated occurrence of temporary bans could be because of a Twicth automation involving bots taking down videos that do not comply with guidelines.
Fans also have speculated that the bans could have been caused by automated streams featuring older videos, some of which included controversial or now-banned content. Regardless, with an average viewership of 189 viewers on his channel, PewDiePie's Twitch channel continues to stay up.
In other news, Jack Doherty received a permanent ban from Kick after getting into a crash with his McLaren while distracted by reading messages from his chat.
