Livingston "DJ Akademiks" has made a name reporting on pop culture, hip-hop news, and internet drama. He started on YouTube, reporting instances of gang violence in Chicago, and as time went by, he found himself a spot on Complex's Everyday Struggle. From here, Akademiks' popularity blew up, and he started streaming on Twitch, where he reviewed the industry's latest news.

On October 15, DJ Akademiks received his fourth ban on Twitch for undisclosed reasons. The platform released no formal message regarding the ban and, as of this writing, Akademiks has yet to come out with a statement addressing this. Apart from Twitch, he also streams on YouTube and Rumble, and considering the situation, these platforms are a useful backup for Akademiks.

It's worth noting that on YouTube, he had the ninth-largest channel in terms of streaming during quarter three of 2024.

Although his YouTube channel King Akademiks remains, pumping out clips from his streams on the daily, his Twitch is still down. Interestingly, although nothing official has come out regarding the ban, the streamer went live on Twitch the same day his channel was taken down.

The topics of discussion during the stream could be considered controversial and besides, a good chunk of the broadcast featured Kick streamer Adin Ross, who was banned from Twitch in 2023 for violating the community guidelines. All these factors combined give rise to speculation.

What could have led to DJ Akademiks' ban from Twitch?

During his October 15 Twitch stream, DJ Akademiks and Adin Ross investigated a particular case dealing with Onlyfans models and STDs. Perhaps the nature of this content was too sensitive to be discussed on Twitch.

The more apparent reason could be Adin Ross' presence entirely. Adin was banned from Twitch in 2023 and while he initially claimed that there was no clear reason for the ban, it was later reported that it was due to unmoderated hateful conduct displayed in the chat during one of his broadcasts.

Specifically, Ross had shown chat messages from his Kick stream on Twitch, which included multiple offensive comments that he did not moderate.

To sum it up, Akademiks involved Adin Ross, who is currently banned on Twitch, in a live stream discussing potentially controversial subject matter. Ultimately, his channel got taken down with no estimate as to when it might be back up.

In other news, Adin Ross has suggested that Kick is planning to implement a feature that allows viewers to earn real money simply by watching streams.
