Twitch star Kai Cenat unfollows Dr DisRespect on X after Doc confirms inappropriate messages led him to get banned

In response to recent reports regarding Dr DisRespect, Kai Cenat was seen unfollowing the popular streamer on X (formerly Twitter).

In June 2020, the streaming world was given a huge surprise when the extremely popular Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV, better known as Dr DisRespect, was banned from Twitch. Boasting a total of 4.45 million followers on the platform today, he was one of the most well-known streamers of his time.

The reasons behind the permanent Twitch ban were not publicly announced. However, recent reports have shed some harrowing light on the reasons behind the band. As it turns out, according to a former Twitch employee named Cody Conners, the popular streamer was banned from the platform after he had sent inappropriate messages to a minor via the then-existing Twitch Whispers service.

Kai Cenat unfollows Dr DisRespect on X following the latest reports about the streamer’s 2020 ban

During his ongoing marathon livestream on Twitch, Kai Cenat was seen learning about the recent revelations that have cast a surly eye on the ban Dr DisRespect received in 2020. The streamer was seen promptly unfollowing the former Twitch icon and said the following:

“Oh my god my boy. We will take that break bro. Hey, look though…I don’t know chat, I might have to unfollow a lot of n***as.”

The news comes after Cody Conners exposed in a recent interview about what led to the platform banning Dr DisRespect permanently.

“He got banned because got caught sexting a minor in the then-existing Twitch whispers product. He was trying to meet up with her at TwitchCon. The powers that be could read in plain text.”

While the reasons behind the ban had not been revealed thus far, the recent interview suggests the streamer had been involved in a concerning controversy. According to Conners, he had texted the underage girl in the hope of setting up a meet at Twitch Con, leading to the platform deciding to ban him permanently.

Dr DisRespect himself had earlier responded to the claims and said that not only was any wrongdoing acknowledged, but he had also been paid out his entire contract:

“This has been settled, no wrongdoing was acknowledged, and they paid out the whole contract.”

Hence, for the time being, there appears to be a lack of clarity over exactly what led to the streamer being banned from the platform. Still, Kai Cenat appears to have made up his mind and claimed that Dr DisRespect was one of the streamers he wished to unfollow. It will be interesting to see how the controversy unfolds further and whether Dr DisRespect can win back the trust of the community, as before.
