Twitch streamer and AMP member Duke Dennis was baffled after viewers told him that a $280K bid was made in his name at a charity auction for a video gaming session with popular content creator Pokimane. The streamer had no idea what had happened and was completely lost about the entire situation.
For context, Twitch streamer CDawgVA is hosting a charity auction for the Immune Deficiency Foundation where content creators can put up items and experiences for people to bid on. All proceeds are slated to go to the foundation, and Pokimane put up an experience where people can bid on a video game session with her.
It seems someone impersonating Duke Dennis had bid $280K at the auction to play video games with Pokimane. When viewers brought it up on his livestream, Duke claimed he had no idea what they were talking about. The AMP member stated:
"$280K, $280K. What is $280K? What are you all talking about? Wait, wait, wait. What the f**k is that? Pokimane donation? Hey, can somebody please elaborate on what the f**k is going on? You all ni**as just started spamming some sh*t."
Screenshot of a bidder impersonating Duke Dennis bidding $300K to play video games with Pokimane goes viral
Pokimane's gaming session item on CDawgVA's charity auction has been making waves as $100K bids started rolling in within a couple of hours of the website going live. Early in the auction process, someone had seemingly used Duke Dennis's name to start bidding on the item.
In a screenshot doing the rounds on social media, two bids attributed to the AMP member can be seen being made. The first one was worth $280K while the other bid worth $300K was made a few seconds later. As it stands, the fake Duke Dennis was outbid quite soon.
Readers should note that Pokimane's Gaming session eventually got even more bids, with the current highest bidder standing at a staggering $500K, surprising the Twitch streamer and CDawgVA in the process. The auction will be open till July 19, so the amount could exceed half a million dollars.
