Twitch streamer and OTK (One True King) co-owner Nick Polom aka "Nmplol" has responded to the online reaction of fans over the recent decision to remove fellow Twitch streamer and OTK co-founder Zack "Asmongold" from the organization. This has naturally erupted a wave of mixed reactions (given that Asmongold was a popular figure within the OTK community). One user wrote:
"Who the f**k is even in OTK other than Asmongold? You losers are nothing without him."
Nmplol, one of the founding members of the organization, took note of this post and responded by stating that even without Asmongold, the current OTK rosters (including him, Emily "Emiru" and Chance "Sodapoppin") have a well-established community. He replied:
"I'm 10th NA, Miz is 11th. Emiru is 16th and the #1 girl (non-VTuber) Chance is 22nd. We aren't 4th like Asmon, but to call us nothing without him is super dishonest."
What is the recent Asmongold and OTK controversy?
Asmongold, arguably the most recognizable face of One True King, recently found himself in a controversial situation after making provocative remarks about Palestinians and the ongoing war in Gaza.
For context, in one of his streams (October 13, 2024), he controversially said:
"These people are not your allies. They are not the same as us. They come from an inferior culture that is horrible. It kills people for their identity, is directly antithetical to everything Western values stand for, and is an inferior culture in all ways. It is that simple. No! I don’t feel bad for them. I don't feel sorry for them. I don't care! I don't support them. It’s that simple."
These comments were swiftly addressed by OTK. On October 17, the organization’s official X page released a statement condemning his remarks and announcing that he would be leaving the organization:
"Yesterday evening, we spoke with Zack and he will be stepping away from his roles at OTK and our affiliate companies, Starforge, Mythic, and Mad Mushroom."
Asmongold has also returned to streaming, where he addressed the controversy. He explained that he mutually parted ways with the organization and issued an apology for generalizing the entire population of Palestine in his remarks. At the time of writing, his second channel (Zackrawrr) has been banned from Twitch.
