Twitch star Noko (aka Christian) recently made a post on X announcing that he is quitting Apex Legends to pursue content creation for Deadlock. He is the latest streamer to publicly disclose their intention to cover Valve's new hero shooter, which is currently still in beta, leaving behind their previous primary game.
Noko's announcement comes weeks after another popular Twitch streamer, AverageJonas, revealed that he would be moving over to Deadlock and not be playing Valorant as much as he used to.
In his post, Noko thanked viewers who allowed him to build a career out of playing Apex Legends for content and noted that his decision to leave the game was at the request of people in his fanbase.
Noko looks back at his career as an Apex Legends streamer as he explains why he is moving to Deadlock
Even though it is technically unreleased, Deadlock has quickly taken over the competitive shooter video game category, drawing players from other titles such as Valorant, Counter-Strike, and Overwatch. Since its beta rolled out a few weeks ago, numerous streamers have been playing it on their channels, with the likes of Shroud praising its mechanics.
With almost 400K followers on Twitch, Noko has registered over 11.5K hours streaming Apex Legends on his channel, per statistics from Twitch Tracker. He also plays other shooters, such as Overwatch, Valorant, and Fortnite, but Apex Legends was his game of choice.
In his post, Noko looked back at his career playing Respawn's battle royale game quite fondly and thanked his community for making it possible. The streamer revealed that it was his fans who had given him the strength to quit his job at Verizon, which allowed him to travel the world and play video games for a living:
"A little over 5 years ago my community convinced me to take a leap of faith and quit my job at Verizon to be a content creator for apex. Since then I’ve played professionaly, traveled the world, met amazing people and had great memories that I will cherish forever."
Noko then revealed why he was leaving Apex Legends streaming and switching to Deadlock, claiming that it's just a result of him listening to his community:
"With that being said, I’ve decided to listen to my community once again and also follow my heart. I will be quitting Apex to pursue playing Deadlock! Whether it’s for content, guides, going pro, or even watch parties I’m exciting[sic] for this next step."
The Twitch star concluded his message by saying that while he will continue to play other games, his main focus will be Deadlock:
"I will also be doing more variety but mainly Deadlock. Thank you all for the support over the years! Hope y’all will still support this new chapter"
As mentioned, Valve's new hero shooter has grown at a quick pace on streaming websites like Twitch and YouTube. Big names like xQc are also playing the popular game on their broadcasts.
