Popular streamer Asmongold's alternate account titled zackrawrr has been temporarily banned by Twitch almost a day after clips of the streamer's controversial remarks about Palestine and the conflict in Gaza went viral.
On October 14, Asmongold was discussing the ongoing issues in the Middle East on his secondary channel zackrawrr when he made statements about Palestinian culture being inferior and how he does not care about genocide. Clips from the livestream garnered a lot of backlash on social media with many in the community asking for Twitch to take action.
As of October 15, it appears that the Amazon-owned platform has penalized the streamer with the zackrawrr account currently being banned. The prompt when trying to access the channel notes that this is a temporary suspension due to violation of community guidelines or terms of services.
Many streamers have welcomed the news and are sharing screen screenshots of the suspension message on social media websites like X.
Asmongold's secondary Twitch channel zackrawrr gets banned after widespread backlash over Palestine and Gaza remark
Those who follow Asmongold know about the veteran Twitch star's secondary channel named zackrawrr, which he has used for the past couple of years. Over time, this alternate account has garnered over 1.8 million followers as well.
On October 14, the OTK co-founder went viral after he made some controversial comments about the ongoing conflict in Palestine. One of the main talking points that he used which garnered a lot of backlash was when the Texas native stated that people in the region have an inferior culture.
His exact words were:
"These people are not your allies, they are not the same as us. They come from an inferior culture that is horrible, it kills people for their identity and is directly antithetical to everything Western values stand for and is an inferior culture in all ways."
Apart from that, he was also accused of supporting genocide by the Palestinian-American Kick streamer Fousey, who slammed the Twitch streamer for his take. Fousey, along with many others, claimed that such takes should be punished.
Readers should note that Asmongold has already addressed the situation in an X post where he seemingly apologized by claiming that he was being an "a**hole" about the Palestine issue. However, that has not stopped Twitch from taking action and suspending his alternate account where he made those statements.
For those wondering, this does mean that Asmongold will not be able to go live on his main account either. If he does, he might get another penalty for ban evasion.
