Was MrBeast ever arrested? Alleged old mugshot of YouTube star goes viral online

YouTube star Jimmy "MrBeast" has once again made headlines after an alleged mugshot of his arrest went viral on social media. The content creator's picture of his supposed arrest emerged from a Facebook post that was made on January 26, 2018.

According to Tar River Times, two drivers were "arrested simultaneously" and charged with "several traffic offenses" related to a "speed competition":

"Two drivers were arrested simultaneously early Sunday morning and charged with several traffic offenses related to a speed competition after a Tarboro police officer clocked the duo traveling 122 MPH on U.S. 64 bypass. According to Tarboro Police Chief Jesse Webb, around 2:30 a.m., Patrolman Matt Boyette was on patrol near the intersection of U.S. 64 bypass and Highway 258 South when he observed two vehicles traveling eastbound on U.S. 64 at a very high rate of speed."

Patrolman Matt Boyette identified one of the drivers as 19-year-old James Stephen Donaldson (MrBeast's real name) and the other driver as 22-year-old Luis Sebastian Guerrero-Rijo:

"Boyette was able to obtain a radar reading on the vehicles, which indicated that both vehicles were traveling 122 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. Boyette initiated traffic stops simultaneously and detained both drivers. The first driver was identified as Luis Sebastian Guerrero-Rijo, 22, of Tarboro, and the other driver was identified as James Stephen Donaldson, 19, of Winterville."

Furthermore, Tar Rivers Times' report stated that Patrolman Matt Boyette arrested both suspects, including MrBeast, for "spontaneous speed competition":

"After Boyette spoke to both suspects about what he had observed, he arrested them for spontaneous speed competition. While continuing to process the traffic stop, several officers arrived to assist Boyette. One of the officers made contract with a passenger in Guerrero-Rijo's vehicle and found him to be in possession of an open container of alcohol."

On October 30, 2024, MrBeast garnered attention on social media after allegations that he engaged in cryptocurrency insider trading surfaced. The investigation was conducted by loock.io, which claimed that the most subscribed YouTuber owned over 50 cryptocurrency wallets with a history of insider trading.

Furthermore, the investigators stated that the 26-year-old made $23 million through alleged insider trading and using his influence to promote cryptocurrency pump-and-dump schemes.

As of this writing, MrBeast has not responded to these allegations.
