As per an announcement made through a post on her X account, internet personality Claire "Lil Tay" has successfully undergone open-heart surgery. Lil Tay had to undertake the medical procedure after she was diagnosed with a cardiac tumor, as per medical reports shared on her X and Instagram pages on September 12, 2024.

Talking about the outcome of her surgical procedure, the X post stated:

"We are overjoyed to share that Tay’s open-heart surgery was a great success! We are deeply thankful to her surgeon, cardiologist and the team who are the best in the world!"

The video which accompanied the post made to Lil Tay's X account shows her lying seemingly unconscious on a hospital bed in scrubs. But despite the reports previously shared regarding her medical issues which led her to get this surgery, some netizens were distrustful of the news.

This was due to her being involved in a death hoax in 2023, in which it was wrongfully declared that Lil Tay had passed away. The internet star later explained that she had been sidelined during the debacle, and claimed that the whole stunt had been orchastrated by her father.

Despite not clarifying whether the tumor was cancerous or benign, an earlier post on X had simply described it as "life threatening". With the surgery now complete, Lil Tay's latest post also thanked her fans for their support:

"Thank you for the love, prayers, and positive energy you have all sent her way. Thank you for your continued support. We are off to a great start on the road to recovery."

The death hoax that had enveloped her in 2023 was made through an Instagram post on her official account on August 9, 2023. Upon being further questioned regarding this, Lil Tay's father and manager at the time refused to confirm the reports of her passing, adding to viewers' growing suspicions regarding the announcement made at the time. Eventually, a statement was made by Lil Tay herself, stating that she and her brother were both safe and sound.
