American magazine Rolling Stone has named Twitch star Kai Cenat as the number one most influential creator of 2024. He was part of a list of the 25 most influential creators of the year. It included creators from various industries and platforms, such as influencers, entertainers, and musicians from TikTok, YouTube, and Twitch.
This year has been massive for Kai Cenat, who has been focusing extensively on streaming marathons of various games, such as Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and Red Dead Redemption 2. Most recently, he hosted a collaborative Hardcore Minecraft broadcast alongside YouTube streamer Darren "IShowSpeed", which lasted over 105 hours.
Placed above other major internet stars like Good Mythical Morning's Rhett and Link, much-discussed YouTube star Jimmy "MrBeast", and TikTok influencer Nara Smith, many netizens expressed their satisfaction with Cenat being number one on the list.
X user @irhynoo commented that Cenat "deserved" to be crowned the most influential creator of 2024:
"Well deserved."
Meanwhile, @SenpaiRetro wrote:
"W KAI."
However, netizens chastised Rolling Stone for including some information while describing Cenat within the list:
"Nah they violated. What do you mean 'misogynistic and homophobic humour'. Plus why ain't speed here. This article is embarrassing," wrote @scekei.
"They violated him though these articles hate Kai," wrote @HussTheGoat.
"You had me until you included unnecessary information, send this journalist back to university. L Article, L rolling stone," wrote @autchristine.
Who won the Streamer of the Year award instead of Kai Cenat at the recently held Esports Awards 2024?
Despite being one of the biggest streaming stars nominated for the award, Kai Cenat did not win in the Streamer of the Year category at this year's iteration of the Esports Awards in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The award was instead handed to Mexican streamer Samantha Rivers.
The outcome generated backlash from both netizens and other streamers, with many comparing Rivers' popularity to that of other content creators in the category who did not win. Notably, the category's winner was chosen based on public voting and not through the awards' panel members.
Meanwhile, Twitch streamer Zack "Asmongold" recently opined on Samantha Rivers being given the accolade of Streamer of the Year. In a recent broadcast, he claimed she had been selected due to her gender, and that she was a "diversity pick."
