VTuber fallenshadow, aka Shondo, has criticized Twitch for not justifying the reason behind the platform banning her account. Shondo was banned on September 14, 2024, and the suspension was lifted in just two days. However, the streamer was still not cool with how the Amazon-owned company had handled the situation.

"What Does This Even Mean?!" fallenshadown wrote on X after sharing the news of getting unbanned.

The VTuber further criticized Twitch, claiming that they only unbanned her after there was a backlash from the community over the reasoning for the ban. For context, in her last broadcast before the suspension, fallenshadow was seen drinking on camera. In another post on X, the streamer shared the email sent by Twitch in response to her appeal and captioned it:

"hahahah what though? so they're admitting it's only because of backlash? O_o Ok..."

As per the screenshot of the email, it seems Twitch thinks they were justified in enforcing the ban and only lifted it because Shondo had appealed it.

Streamer fallenshadow accuses Twitch staff of anti-VTuber bias after getting banned

The news about fallenshadow's ban from Twitch was first reported by a bot on X named Streamer Bans. The account automatically posts about partners and affiliates of the website if they get suspended. Normally, the platform sends out an email explaining the reason for the ban to the streamer in question.

However, it turns out that the VTuber only learned about her suspension from a social media post after she woke up on September 14, 2024. In another scathing post on X, fallenshadow tagged Twitch and their for-support account, claiming that she had not received any communication from their end:

"what the heck man? woke up to being banned, found out through a twitter bot because i have received NO email about it, nevermind why."

She further insinuated that the moderation team has a "second set of rules" because she is a "petite woman" with a soft voice:

"is drinking on stream against TOS now? or is it just against the made up second set of rules that my partner manager admitted moderation has for me (that i’m not allowed to see or hear about btw) because i am a petite woman with a high soft voice using a vtuber model that reflects me IRL?"

fallenshadow proceeded to accuse Twitch of employing staff members who hate VTubers:

"so… do i at least get to know WHY i’m banned this time? for how long? because nobody has told me anything and this is starting to feel very much like bullying. i don’t think it’s fair that one rogue admin who hates vtubers gets to play with my career like this."

The VTuber further detailed how she was disabled and how streaming was how she supports other family members, while again criticizing the moderation team for hating VTubers:

"i’m legally disabled and i support 6 vulnerable family members through streaming. and someone who just “doesn’t like vtubers” gets to keep hurting me (and others) with no explanation, logic or reason? while we all know this is a site full of naked women on the front page?"

30 minutes after her first post about the ban, fallenshadow revealed she had finally got an email from Twitch. But the streamer was quite unhappy with the situation, considering the email stated that she had been banned for 30 days for allegedly breaking guidelines related to self-harm.

The VTuber pushed back against this and claimed that she had just had three drinks on stream. According to her, these actions did not justify such a response from Twitch.

"hey @djclancy999 @twitch @TwitchSupport I just got a 30 day ban for having 3 (three) glasses of cream liquor. i’m ok. i’m fine. i’m not even hungover. WTF ???" wrote the VTuber in a subsequent post.

Readers should note that according to Twitch guidelines, drinking is technically allowed on stream, as long as the creator does not slur their speech and is not incapacitated due to alcohol.

As it stands, owing to her successful appeal, fallenshadow did not have to go through a 30-day suspension, as the initial email from Twitch suggested. As per Streamer Bans, her channel was banned for one day and about 16 hours.
