Days after the World of Warcraft controversy, Thor "Pirate Software" has garnered more criticism online after Kick streamer Destiny discussed the possibility that the streamer might have been using online guides to solve puzzles in Outer Wilds during his broadcasts.
During his Kick broadcast on January 18, 2025, Destiny reviewed a VOD of Pirate Software playing Outer Wilds. He observed that the streamer appeared to look away from the screen after struggling with an in-game puzzle.
Destiny suggested that Pirate Software had been glancing at his phone, implying that he may have looked up the solution. In the clip, which has garnered a lot of traction on the r/LivestreamFail subreddit, he said:
"There's no way that he would be so blatant about it though, right? He is clearly looking at his phone right now. There's no way he would just go right now and instantly solve it. Like, he would at least fake trying to figure it out for a minute or two, right?"
The clip has led to considerable backlash against Pirate Software, with many viewers accusing the Twitch star of cheating.
One Redditor claimed that he had cheated in other games as well.
"Cheated on animal well and outer wilds, wow what else has he cheated," @gamikhan posted.
Another viewer remarked that the streamer should consider playing easier games.
"Bros gotta stick to simpler games. Maybe try Mario Kart or something," @CL60 wrote.
Several viewers asserted that the clip shared by Destiny served as evidence that Pirate Software consulted guides to solve puzzles.
"That planet he was on had a time-release entrance that would only be available after the planet had lost a set amount of sand. Pirate found it instantly after looking up the solution on his phone," @dwarffy claimed.
However, some people noted that this could be an attempt to tarnish Pirate Software's reputation following the recent World of Warcraft OnlyFangs drama.
"I don't get the confusion, it looks like a dude just playing a game he's played before... is that the issue? is he genuinely claiming he's playing the game for the first time?? kinda seems like something DougDoug would do though... "blind" playthrough. also this rush to cancel pirate is weird timing. sounds like some shenanigans that Sam Hyde's fanbase would do to Sam Hyde," @superbhole opined.
Atrioc recently insinuated that people should investigate Pirate Software's Animal Well playthrough
Destiny's clip involving Outer Wilds is not the only instance where Pirate Software has faced scrutiny over his gameplay. On January 16, 2025, a clip featuring Atrioc was shared on r/LivestreamFail titled, "Did PirateSoftware fake his Animal Well playthrough?" In the clip, Atrioc discussed Pirate Software's Animal Well playthrough and initially believed the streamer was highly skilled at puzzles:
"I watched his Animal Well playthrough. I watched the whole thing, it looks like a modder. And I liked the video. And I remember thinking after the video, 'Damn, he is f**king good at puzzles, man! If I was doing this, I would be f**king stuck.' Okay?"
Atrioc later claimed that during the recent OnlyFangs Hardcore WoW drama, he encountered a post alleging that Pirate Software had used a guide while playing Animal Well, which altered his perception of the playthrough:
"And then during this drama, I am reading comments on this WoW drama and somebody offhandedly mentioned that he faked it. That he looked up a guide, that he f**king clearly... That he says things that happen before he gets there, and I don't know if that's true. I rewatched some parts of the video, and with that knowledge, it looks so much different to me."
Atrioc clarified that he was not making any accusations but hoped someone would "look into it":
"I am not saying anything, I don't know! All I am saying is I wish someone smarter than me would look into it."
In related news, Pirate Software has announced that he is quitting Hardcore World of Warcraft streams on Twitch.
