On July 22, 2024, mass cancellation calls for YouTuber Ava Kris Tyson emerged after an old video of her resurfaced. In the video, she circulated already-leaked NSFW photos of former Nickelodeon child actress and singer Jennette McCurdy.

The old footage showed Ava Kris Tyson before her gender transition (when she was Chris Tyson), where she told her audience about Jennette McCurdy’s leaked lingerie-clad images, adding that the link was in her video description if anyone was interested in taking a glimpse.

“Recently everybody's been hearing about the Jennette McCurdy leak of her photos... She sent pictures to her boyfriend, or now ex-boyfriend, and he leaked 'em out… I'm not endorsing people to go look at somebody else's private business, but I know that people might want to see them, so it's there if you want it,” she claimed in the clip.

Back then, it was rumored that Jennette McCurdy’s former boyfriend and NBA star Andre Drummond leaked the pictures.

Meanwhile, in her video, Ava explained how the leaked photos might get “taken down” by Nickelodeon as they were powerful. While she did not encourage people to look at McCurdy’s leaked images, the internet is now calling her out for boosting/recirculating the leaked images.

Several people joined the conversation on X and called for Tyson’s immediate cancellation by drawing a comparison to YouTuber Dr. DisRespect (The Doc), who was allegedly banned by Twitch last month for inappropriate text exchanges with a minor.

“Cancel him like Doc was canceled. Even more, show more evidences,” a person wrote.
“We really do need to cancel predatory behavior. It's been everywhere the past couple of months from every platform,” another person wrote.
“So why not cancel like Doc?? And ignored all allegations,” one person wrote.

Others demanded a prison sentence for Tyson in the wake of recent findings.

“Why she isn’t that thing in prison?” a netizen asked.
“Bro needs to be in prison,” one netizen wrote.
“Put him in the same cell as Dr. DisRespect,” another netizen wrote.

Some pointed out that Ava Kris Tyson was “guilty,” adding that her behavior was offensive.

“He’s guilty,” an individual wrote.
“I’m offended. I want actions,” another individual wrote.

Ava Kris Tyson has issued a response to recent allegations

Before the Jennette McCurdy leaked photos incident resurfaced online, MrBeast crew member Ava Kris Tyson was accused of grooming, including exchanging explicit text messages with a minor who goes by the name Lava GS.

Reportedly, Lava, now 20 years old, first met Ava Kris Tyson when she was 13 and won a giveaway on MrBeast's YouTube channel. Following this, they began sharing DMs on X and Discord.

Amid grooming allegations, Lava has defended Ava online, claiming she “never did anything wrong.”

"These videos are massive lies and twisting the truth. I was never exploited or taken advantage of... ," Lava claimed.

Regardless, the trans influencer has been facing backlash, including calls for her permanent boycott from MrBeast crew. In the wake of this, on July 23, Ava Kris Tyson tweeted that she was exiting from the MrBeast team.

“Seeing recent events, we’ve mutually decided it’s best I permanently step away from all things MrBeast and social media to focus on my family and mental health,” she wrote.

She also denied the grooming accusations and mentioned that the person who got involved in it has “vocally” maintained that they were “false.”

“Having said that, I humbly apologize to anyone I have hurt with my unacceptable social media posts, past actions, and to those who may feel betrayed by how I used to act online,” Ava added.

Ava Kris Tyson also said that the implication that her behavior “extended beyond bad edgy jokes” was not only “disgusting” but also “did not happen.” She also said that she has learned over the years that her “old humor” was often deemed unacceptable. She shared that while she couldn’t change who she was, she was constantly working on herself.

The YouTuber also urged people not to make the accusations against her “impact” the way they view MrBeast, its team, and its content.
