VTuber (Virtual YouTuber) and Twitch streamer Ironmouse made history yesterday (September 30, 2024) after becoming the most subscribed streamer on Twitch with 320K subscribers. The previous record was held by Kai Cenat who peaked at 306K subscribers. While Ironmouse was already a well-known streamer, this feat has certainly garnered attention from all corners of the online community.

Her online achievements are well documented at this point. However, new viewers might not know that the VTuber has been battling against a certain kind of immunodeficiency. This article will delve into this particular aspect of her life and explore what she had to say about it.

Ironmouse is one of the most popular figures in the VTubing scene and now the wider Twitch community. The streamer skyrocketed from just under 10K subscribers on August 31 to over 320K by the end of September.

Despite having millions of fans, very little is known about Ironmouse's private life. No one knows her real name or what she looks like, which is common for most VTubers. However, she has chosen to open up about her health-related concerns.

Back in 2021, during a Twitch stream, Ironmouse revealed that she has been battling against a medical condition known as Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID). According to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID):

"Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a primary immune deficiency disease characterized by low levels of protective antibodies and an increased risk of infections."

According to the NIAID website, CVID causes various symptoms, including "frequent bacterial and viral infections," "acute lung infections," "diarrhea," "reduced liver function," and "painful swollen joints," among others.

What did Ironmouse say about her health condition?

Ironmouse, who typically keeps her private life to herself, has briefly spoken about her health concerns on multiple occasions. Back in 2021, she discussed her condition, explaining how her body doesn't produce antibodies, saying:

"I have CVID. It is a medical condition, it is a genetic immune disease. My body doesn't make antibodies to fight off infections or viruses so I have to get donated plasma from other humans every week to help."

The Twitch streamer added that she has a port-a-cath device attached to her chest:

"But sometimes, there has been a shortage because of COVID, so if you can donate plasma, please do. Because of my medical issues, I'm on medicine all the time, so I have a port-a-cath on my chest and I always have medicines flowing in me. But every so often I have to change my medicine's doses."

Ironmouse is currently on day 30 of her subathon, which was the main reason she reached the world record for the most subscriber count. She has pledged to donate 50% of her earnings from subscriptions to the Immune Deficiency Foundation.
