Twitch streamer Pokimane joined the platform in 2013, and currently stands as its most-followed female streamer. Over her career, she has faced multiple hurdles, including health issues. Earlier in 2024, she revealed her diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal disorder causing irregular periods, acne, and other symptoms.

During this revelation, she expressed her frustration over the delayed diagnosis and encouraged her followers to seek medical advice if they experienced similar symptoms. In a YouTube video posted on her channel on November 4, 2024, Pokimane spoke about having felt a "lump" on her chest that was caught by an MRI scan.

The streamer had a lumpectomy done a few years ago. In simple terms, this is a surgical procedure that aims to remove a lump or abnormal tissue from the breast, often when a patient has a breast lump that may be cancerous.

After multiple tests, Pokimane was told that the lump was back, and further procedures needed to be done to find the root cause:

"My doctor ordered not one, but two biopsies, and that really freaked me out because I've never had a biopsy done. I'm having a hard time even talking about it even though I went through all of this already, it still gives me such stress and anxiety." (Timestamp - 5:03)

Pokimane elaborates on her "frightening" experience at the doctor's after a recent health scare

The recent health scare was a difficult experience for the streamer. In her video, she expressed being terrified of a biopsy, a medical procedure in which a small sample of tissue is taken from the body to be examined closely under a microscope:

"It's frightening, luckily I can't feel anything, cuz I'm numb but still very frightening, then after a biopsy they put a small metal marker into your body. When they first told me this I was like umm, no I think, no." (Timestamp - 6:15)

Later, she spoke about the uncomfortable position an MRI scan put her in:

"If you've never gotten an MRI good for you, you're literally in like this claustrophobic tube with these sounds... taking images of your body, it's freakish." (Timestamp - 8:15)

Finally, toward the end of the video, she spoke about the wave of relief she felt after finding out the growth in her body wasn't harmful:

"I finally got the results of my second biopsy and it said they were benign. I was so relieved and I was able to really process everything cried out a little bit. Interestingly enough the results actually came on the same day as my mom's birthday so it was a nice gift for her." (Timestamp - 10:11)

In the end, she stressed the importance of getting checked for cancer and reminded her viewers that however far-fetched the condition may seem for some, it's never too early to pick up on the disease.
