On September 24, 2024, YouTube streamer "Ludwig" Ahgren took to X to announce his first video game, Rivals of Aether II. For those unfamiliar, Rivals of Aether is an indie game series created by Dan Fornace. It is a platform fighting franchise (similar to the concept behind the renowned Nintendo franchise, Super Smash Bros.), and its first installment was released on September 22, 2015, for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.

The sequel, Rivals of Aether II, is set to be released on October 23, 2024. As of writing, the game is available to preorder on Steam. An excerpt from the Valve-developed gaming platform reads:

"Rivals of Aether II is the next generation of platform fighters and multiplayer brawlers. This sequel to the hit indie fighting game Rivals of Aether is expanded and upgraded with 3D visuals, new mechanics, improved online support, and more!"

Earlier today (September 24, 2024), Ludwig announced that the indie fighting game will be published by his company, Offbrand Games. Providing details about his venture, the Los Angeles-based personality posted:

"I'm releasing my first-ever video game. It's called Rivals of Aether II and it's truly full circle as a dude who started by streaming platform fighters to be able to publish my own with Offbrand Games. It comes out in one month and many people are saying you should wishlist it now on Steam."

Ludwig explains why Rivals of Aether II's name changed from its original intended title

During a recent YouTube livestream, Ludwig discussed his upcoming game and explained why the name had been changed. Claiming that the issue arose because of Marvel's hero-shooter, Marvel Rivals, the Mogul Money Live host said:

"The name has been slightly changed. It used to be called Rivals II, the sequel to Rivals of Aether. Now it's called Rivals of Aether II. You might be wondering why is that. Why would you change the name, especially so close to the release date? And the answer is, somehow, to everyone's surprise - Marvel was able to create an amazing video game called Marvel Rivals, and you know, we kind of had to throw out the entire Rivals thing."

The YouTube streamer added that he and his team wouldn't be able to "win the fight" against Marvel if they planned to use the original title:

"We're just not going to win the fight against Marvel. We're just not going to. And it's just not going to happen. All right?"

Ludwig is a well-known internet personality best known for his Just Chatting, IRL events, and gaming content. He has been exclusively livestreaming on YouTube since 2021, and he currently boasts over six million subscribers.
