Who was Callejas 503? Plus-sized influencer’s sudden death at 37 leaves the internet in disbelief

On June 6, plus-sized influencer Edgar Landaverde, who went by Callejas 503, passed away at the age of 37. So far, the cause of his death remains undisclosed.

The news of his tragic demise was shared on his Instagram account by his family. They wrote in Spanish, which when translated to English reads:

“A truly painful situation for the family but we make them public to all media, our beloved Callejas 503 has left this world. [We] thank each of you for the love to him, for your support… We ask for your understanding and respect for the mourning of the family…”

The post, which contained a few images of the influencer, including an "In Memorium Of" snap, also invited fans and followers to join them during his memorial service (which was live-streamed) and burial on June 7 and June 8 in Santa Tecla, El Salvador.

In the wake of his untimely death, the internet has been mourning and sharing their tributes for Edgar Landaverde. Here are some of them from X.

“Heavy blow to us all,” one person wrote.

“Yeah, shocking,” an individual wrote.

“May his soul rest where he belongs,” another individual wrote.

“Cut short in his prime,” a netizen wrote.

According to several sources, he had no known illnesses at the time of his sudden demise. Apart from his fans, several other influencers, namely Oscar Sandoval, (GordosoyaCity), Elena Villatoro, and Alfredo Larin also shared their condolences on social media.

Callejas 503 was an online food reviewer and travel vlogger

Callejas 503 or Edgar Landaverde was an internet personality and social media influencer hailing from El Salvador. He was primarily a YouTuber and had over 178,000 subscribers on the platform, which he created in 2012.

On his channel, he reviewed food joints and shared quirky content from his daily life and travels to several other Latin/ Central American countries. However, he began his journey as an influencer by playing and reviewing video games.

Callejas 503’s last YouTube video was posted in late May which shared his lunch outing with a few friends in the Santa Tecla food market.

In one of his recent posts, the plus-sized influencer also gave a shout-out to his fans for their support, appreciated the brands for valuing his work, and claimed how in his country, content creators still did not get the respect they deserve.

"They prefer to pay a fortune to be on TV, even though we could probably give them better publicity… Most companies try to pay you with barter deals and are reluctant to invest in you, while they spend big money elsewhere, on radio and TV. But who watches TV or listens to the radio anymore? Everything is online now," he added.

He was also active on Instagram and had over 82,900 followers where his last post was a clip of him talking to the camera about his motorcycle. It was posted in late April. Edgar Landaverde also had a popular account on Twitch.
