Cody Conners is a former Twitch employee who was recently called out by Dr DisRespect during the latter's comeback stream. This broadcast came after a roughly two-month-long hiatus following the YouTube streamer's statement addressing the controversy about allegedly sending inappropriate messages to a minor.
On the broadcast dated September 6, 2024, Dr DisRespect claimed that he had previously talked about texting a minor in a now-deleted statement to bait people into making false accusations. In the same stream, he implied that the person involved might be of legal age of consent.
The YouTube streamer called out Cody Conners — whose bio on X notes that he was a former CPM explainer for Twitch — for leaking the "reported reason" for his ban. According to him, the terms of his lawsuit with the Amazon platform forbade either party from discussing the matter in public.
Conners was with Twitch for eight years, according to his LinkedIn account, working as an Account Director and on Strategic Partnerships for the most part. He quit his job at the Amazon-owned company back in 2023 and started his own firm producing sound for digital content creators.
He went viral on X after his post from June 22, 2024, about Dr DisRespect's ban kicked off one of the biggest streaming controversies of the year.
"Cody, why do this?" — Dr DisRespect denies allegations brought forward by former Twitch employee Cody Conners
On the stream, Dr DisRespect denied numerous allegations and revealed some details about the lawsuit against Twitch after he was banned. The streamer claimed that both before and after the lawsuit, both parties were prohibited from speaking about the case publicly:
"You see there was a lawsuit pending, and as part of that arbitration, all parties were not allowed to speak publicly about the case. I respected those rules. My lawsuit against Twitch was eventually resolved as you all know, but even then, as part of the settlement, all parties were still prohibited from publicly speaking about the case or the settlement."
Dr DisRespect went on to state that he had respected and abided by the confidentiality rules, but former Twitch employee Cody Conners had leaked the reported reason for his ban:
"However, if one side violated that confidentiality, then the other side can respond. And again, Champs, I respected all the confidential obligations. But apparently, Twitch's own disgruntled employees did not feel the need to abide by those same obligations. Cody Conners, ex-Twitch employee, was even involved in leaks of Twitch's reported reason years later."
For those unaware, Cody Conners' post on X dated June 22, 2024, (June 21 ET) went viral, alleging that Dr DisRespect had been banned from Twitch because of sending explicit messages to a minor:
"He got banned because got caught sexting a minor in the then existing Twitch whispers product. He was trying to meet up with her at TwitchCon. The powers that be could read in plain text. Case closed, gang."
Dr DisRespect directly called out Cody Conners in his latest stream, claiming he had lied:
"Cody, why do this? What was the point? This was settled professionally. And you knowing how black and white the internet is, you decided you f**king rat, to leak the reported reason. Twitch banned me in 2020. I mean for what Cody? Why? Did you not know the repercussions for spewing lies about the 'Two-time?' Did you not know the repercussions of accusing me, Cody Conners?"
Dr DisRespect also stated that Conners had no first-hand knowledge of the lawsuit between him and Twitch:
"You see, you don't know sh*t, and it was obvious from your tweet. You didn't have any first-hand knowledge of my dispute with Twitch. You said that I got banned from Twitch because I was sexting a minor through Whispers messages? Do you even know what the legal definition of sexting is? I do."
The streamer further denied sending explicit messages, saying:
"And yeah, I used Twitch's Whispers, but trust me, I was not sexting anyone."
While many viewers remain unconvinced of Dr DisRespect's innocence, some like Keemstar responded positively to the defense presented by the YouTuber during his first stream back.
