Johnny Somali, whose real name is Ramsey Khalid Ismael, is a controversial streamer known for causing public disruptions as part of his online streams. His typical gimmick was to inconvenience the local people of countries he visited, and sometimes this would involve desecrating sacred monuments. He was recently detained, following a series of incidents during his visit to South Korea.

During Johnny Somali's streams in South Korea, his disruptive behavior often led to swift and direct repercussions from locals. Among these locals was Dalgeun Yu, also known as Yoo Dal-geun, a former South Korean Navy SEAL (Underwater Demolition Team member) and amateur MMA fighter, who is now a YouTuber.

Dalgeun Yu confronted and struck Johnny Somali during a public altercation, which he later justified as an act of defending South Korea's dignity. While some online communities praised Yu's actions, he now faces legal consequences, as he has been handed over to prosecutors for charges related to the assault.

Dalgeun Yu blew up in popularity after a video of him assaulting Johnny Somali became viral on the internet. In the video, we see the former Navy SEAL following the streamer outside a building while asking him where he's going in Korea.

Throughout this, Somali was seen mocking the situation, smiling and joking around, clearly not understanding what Dalgeun Yu was trying to say. Soon enough, he was rocked by a punch that seemed to change his entire demeanor.

After the video went viral on Instagram, Johnny Somali responded by expressing claims of foul play:

"You sucker punched me."

In a follow-up post on his account, Dalgeun Yu spoke about how he's grateful for the support he's been receiving and claimed he was doing his part in defending South Korea's honor:

"I just did what I had to do as a Korean citizen. But thank you so much for calling me a hero in the U.S. and in each country. I have a lot of DMs [saying] that you want to donate. Thank you."

This incident occurred in Seoul and was reportedly motivated by Johnny Somali's history of disrespectful and inflammatory behavior, including an incident involving South Korea's Statue of Peace, a monument commemorating victims of sexual slavery during World War II.

Meanwhile, Johnny Somali also faces legal issues for his disruptive activities in South Korea and other countries. If convicted on all charges, Somali could face up to 12 years in prison, as well as substantial fines.

His legal situation is complicated by ongoing investigations, and he remains barred from leaving South Korea while awaiting trial.
