On July 21, social media influencer Charleston White took to his Instagram and claimed that he would never vote for a Black woman to be the U.S. President. His remark comes amid Democratic nominee Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsing Kamala Harris for the position.
“Man, they got me f*cked up. I wouldn’t vote for no Black b*tch. Listen, I was raised by Black women. I have a grandmother, I got Black sisters, but I wouldn’t dare put no Black woman in no motherf*cking position of White House, the Commander-in-Chief of the military,” the YouTuber said in his now-viral video.
Charleston White added that he would prefer that Black people “go back to slavery” or have another “Civil War,” rather than have a Black woman “run this godd*mn country.”
In the wake of his explosive claims, the internet now has diverse reactions. For instance, Instagram user @jarvismays commented on It’s Onsite’s repost of White’s video by writing that such people don’t deserve to speak on social media platforms.
“Why do we even give people like this platforms?” the user asked.
Several others joined in the conversation on X. Some pointed out Charleston White’s ignorance and called him out for being unable to stay quiet in matters of politics.
“You don’t know when to hush,” a person wrote.
“You too ignorant for your age,” one person wrote.
“When does this man not speak on politics?” another person asked.
Others pointed out that Kamala Harris was not a “Black” woman, adding that if she indeed became the President, women of color would like an “apology” from Charleston White.
“Kamala’s not Black,” a netizen wrote.
“Kamala is Indian,” another netizen wrote.
“And then when Kamala actually becomes President, BW would like an apology,” one user wrote.
A few people even mocked Charleston White’s comments and claimed they were meant for “clout.”
“He does anything for clout,” one individual wrote.
“For comedic promotional use only,” an individual wrote.
Charleston White previously endorsed Donald Trump
On Sunday, Joe Biden stepped aside from the 2024 presidential race, stating it was in the “best interest of my party and the country.” The 81-year-old’s decision came amid rising calls for him to withdraw from the race after growing concern for his age-induced cognitive deterioration.
On his way out, Biden has endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee who, in turn, said that she intends to “earn and win” the nomination and do “everything in my power” to defeat Republican nominee Donald Trump.
In the wake of this announcement, hip-hop influencer Charleston White took to his Instagram and claimed he would never vote for a “mixed, Black woman” who was married to a White man as the President.
He further questioned her “mental stability” and said that while Harris was suitable in the position of a Vice President like she has been for the last four years, she was unfit to run the country as its President.
“Dear America I as a N*gga American WOULD NEVER VOTE FOR A BLACK WOMAN OR A MIXED BREED WOMAN! Give me a White Man President, A Descendant of a Slave President, Or a Miss Lilly type of White Woman Presidential,” he captioned his now-viral video.
The YouTuber also tagged Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, their respective parties, and a few media handles including TMZ and BET on his post.
Charleston White, who has always been vocal about American politics, first endorsed Donald Trump in May 2024. Back then, he took to his Instagram and posted a masked picture of himself alongside a huge flag reading, “Trump 2024 I’ll be Back,” making his political affiliations clear.
