"Why would you do that?": IShowSpeed gets emotional after Kai Cenat dies to lava 40 hours into Hardcore Minecraft marathon

Streamers IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat have embarked on a high-stakes Minecraft Hardcore journey, where the pressure is significantly elevated due to the game's lack of respawns. Their ultimate goal is to defeat the Ender Dragon and complete the game, but the path to this goal is challenging. From the onset, fans anticipated not just intense in-game struggles, but also plenty of chaotic moments.

As of August 19, 2024, the duo has died 21 times over a 42-hour stream, restarting their gameplay every time one of them died. They would sometimes blame these deaths on each other, but one particular fatality at the 40-hour mark was entirely Cenat's fault:

Kai and Speed were attempting to cross over to a chunk of land over a large pool of lava using a makeshift bridge they constructed with Netherrack. Midway, the former impulsively decided to start rowing across but ended up tipping off the edge and falling to his doom. Speed initially warned him against this but to no avail.

Since the two are living together during the marathon, Speed walked into Kai's room, and after breaking down some of the background props, he held Kai and said, emotionally:

"Is you serious bro? Is you f**king serious? Come on bro... Come on bro, why would you do that?...There was no reason!"

Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed's fatal journey into The Nether

The two finally managed to reach The Nether realm, after grinding for over 10 hours, building themselves full sets of iron armor. Armed with diamond weapons, they ventured into the realm to kill Blaze mobs to farm Blaze rods, which are essential in making the Eyes of Ender, a necessity required to enter The End, the final stage of Minecraft.

Using a boat in The Nether offers efficient travel, as it doesn't consume hunger, making it an ideal choice for long journeys. Additionally, boats can completely negate fall damage for both the boat and any passengers, making them particularly useful for navigating mountainous terrain or the dangerous landscapes of The Nether.

Speed suggested that they use a boat to travel across the bridge. This suggestion would ultimately lead to tragedy.

Kai turned silent as the message "KAICENATMC tried to swim in lava..." appeared in the game's chatbox. Speed was in disbelief:

"Don't tell me you died... I'm beating your a*s"

Kai then expresses his rage by smashing his table with his fists, causing his stream camera to tilt and turn sideways. Speed summarized the situation, saying:

"So f**king stupid... I said there's lava, right f**king below, like what the f*ck is wrong with you Kai?"

The two proceeded to reconcile and start a fresh new game, a game which would soon end after Speed died to a mini Zombie wielding a sword.
