Twitch streamer and professional World of Warcraft player Mike "Maldiva" made a name for himself through his in-depth game knowledge and command of the Affliction Warlock class. He is well-known for his mastery of damage-over-time abilities and is a formidable competitor in both Player vs. Player (PvP) and dungeon scenarios. Currently, he plays for Method Synergy.
Recently, the streamer found himself in troubled waters involving allegations of grooming. On October 20, 2024, he was accused by X user Isabella (@Issybellaz on X) for allegedly grooming her back when she was 14 years old. At the time, Maldiva was alleged to be 20, making this accusation all the more serious:
"You talk very morally high for someone who groomed me when I was 14 years old & you were a 20-year-old at the time."
What led to the allegations against Maldiva?
On October 17, 2024, Team Liquid's Gillian "Eiya" went on X and posted a message asking what Elon Musk's problem was. On seeing this one day later, Maldiva responded to the post and claimed that Eiya was a "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" (DEI) hire for Liquid Esports:
"The DEI hire WoW esports host tries to call out Elon! Get these woke people out of here!"
For context, Eiya is a key figure in the World of Warcraft (WoW) community and has served as Team Liquid's content creator, host, and producer since 2022. She has been an avid WoW player since 2007 and now works closely with Liquid's WoW guild, particularly during major events like the Race to World First (RWF).
In addition to content creation, she is involved in initiatives like the Liquid Women in Warcraft project, aimed at fostering a more welcoming overall environment in the WoW community.
Maldiva received a wave of negativity for his post against Eiya, with many users wondering why he would make such uncalled-for remarks. In response to the streamer's post, @Issybellaz made the grooming allegation.
As of this writing, Maldiva has yet to come up with a statement addressing the allegations. Isabella's post currently has over 40,000 likes and over 2,000 re-posts, already surpassing the WoW professional's original comments against Eiya in terms of engagement.
Isabella also received support from X users under the post, and many are condemning Maldiva for his alleged behavior.
