Things heated up during a livestream on August 15, 2024, when Felix "xQc" was confronted by his friend, Twitch streamer JesseSMFI, for allegedly being addicted to gambling. During a Kick broadcast, JesseSMFI brought up the topic of addiction, asking the French-Canadian personality if he was addicted to gambling:
"Addiction is pretty... addiction's nuts! I mean, would you call yourself addicted to gambling?"
In response, xQc stated that he "hated" the term "addicted" because it was "misused." He seemingly admitted that he had an "addiction in his life" that was "a lot more damaging" than gambling:
"Bro, I hate that word because of how misused it is. I am as addicted as I am addicted to other things. There's not much of a difference. Right? Like, am I more addicted to... it's like, 'Gotcha!' A lot of people use that as a 'Gotcha!' Like, I have addiction in my life currently that are a lot more damaging to me than this addiction. If that makes sense. So usually, it has a negative tone to it, where it's automatically negative."
After xQc said that he did not like the way JesseSMFI "worded" his question, the latter replied:
"Okay, then let me change the wording. When you gamble, do you have the mentality of constantly getting your loss back or is it more just like, it's fun in the moment? You don't really care, it's just worth the money because it's fun."
The former Overwatch pro then admitted that he "liked the chase" as well as seeing "big numbers."
During the same livestream, JesseSMFI told xQc to look at a photo of a cluttered room. Commenting on this, the Quebec native remarked that his friend didn't need to worry about him:
"'See? You change components. Like, you're changing one component of the f**king equation, like it's bad for me. Like, you need to worry about me. Yo! Worry about your f**king self, b**ch!"
JesseSMFI responded by saying:
"I'm trying to make a combo! Get a f**king haircut. You need a haircut. You need your f**king shampoo in your hair! Jesus!"
When xQc disclosed that he was addicted to gambling
Back in April 2022, xQc disclosed that he was addicted to gambling, so much so that he found ways to wager things in "every game" that he played. He then opened up about his Grand Theft Auto 5 sessions, claiming that he saw the game as a "gambling simulator." The 28-year-old added that he had "one of the biggest and most insane addictive personalities."
