YouTube star Darren "IShowSpeed" will attempt a rather daunting challenge later today (October 8, 2024). The streamer announced via X.com that he will attempt to break the world record for most backflips (backward somersaults) done in 24 hours. Currently, the record is held by Austria's Nico Scheicher, who completed 1,001 backflips on May 4, 2019.
The content creator is no slouch when it comes to pulling off such athletic stunts. Doing backflips has become some sort of signature move for the 19-year-old. His recent X post read:
"BREAKING THE RECORD FOR MOST BACKFLIPS IN 24 HOURS. TOMORROW."
Interestingly, this post received a response from the official page of Guinness World Records (@GWR). They comically wrote:
"We had no idea this was happening but you do you bro."
"I need my award for tomorrow" - IShowSpeed reacts to Guinness World Records' comment on his post
YouTube star IShowSpeed is gearing up for one of his toughest challenges yet, as the streamer aims to break the world record for the most backflips, aka back somersaults, in 24 hours.
After seeing the Guinness World Records themselves react to his post, the content creator declared:
"I need my award for tomorrow."
For those wondering, this is what he had to say about the world record attempt during his stream yesterday (October 7, 2024). He said:
"I'm about to do something that nobody has done before. We will be beating the world record for most backflips in 24 hours, live on stream. The current record is 1001 and I will be beating that tomorrow. So y'all better join my stream tomorrow.
"I have to do 1002 backflips in just under 24 hours. This feat is going to be very hard. But don't worry, I'm already prepared. I've been practising for the past week. I have been doing situps, I've been doing pushups and we'll be beating it tomorrow."

IShowSpeed needs to perform approximately 42 backflips every hour to stay on pace to break the current world record of 1001. Nico Scheicher, the current record holder, completed the challenge in just nine hours.
