Twitch streamer Zack "Asmongold" has been known to discuss video game news for years on his Twitch channel, which currently holds over 3.5 million followers. A good part of the streamer's time is spent on Reddit, sometimes reviewing the latest from r/LivestreamFail or his own community subreddit. Most recently, Asmon looked at a post from r/PriratedGames, discussing the newest drama from Ubisoft.

r/PiratedGames reposted an X post from user @CultureCrave, explaining that early-access Outlaws console players, specifically on the PlayStation 5 (PS5), would have to restart their entire gameplay after a patch from the developer.

Asmongold reacted to the situation on stream and said that an issue like this was to be expected from a game released only for beta testing:

"So if you get to play the game early, you've earned the privilege of having to restart the entire thing".

He then read a comment from a Reddit user under the post saying that players should be provided refunds. Asmon disagreed with this and said:

"No, I think they should get charged twice. You deserve that and you should expect this to happen. You get what you f**king deserve, that's what they say, isn't it?"

Essentially, Asmon believes that early playtesters on the console should expect issues to crop up with the game, considering it was still under development. For context, beta testers allegedly paid about $110 to test the game out.

Asmongold speaks on the Ubisoft and Star Wars Outlaws situation live on stream

Star Wars Outlaws is an upcoming open-world action-adventure game set in the Star Wars universe, developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. Announced during the Ubisoft Forward event in June 2023, the game was released on August 30, 2024, and is available on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC via Ubisoft Connect and Epic Games Store.

Using a voiceover, Asmongold's video briefly explained the entire situation:

"For context, players who bought the Early Access version of the game have been facing soft locks and hard locks where the save file won't load or NPCs will stop spawning on a particular save file essentially breaking the whole playthrough".

The unfortunate part about the situation is that there is realistically no way for PS5 players to recover their saves. Some players had logged in multiple hours already, with one individual claiming they had over seventeen hours in the game.

"This corrupted save file bug was resolved on the day-one patch but unfortunately for these suckers, Ubisoft is not going to provide them any alternative save file, so they could have at least jumped back to the point of the story they reached".

Essentially, early-access players will have to restart their journey all over again, and Asmongold is all for it.

In other news, Asmongold argued that Rivers winning Streamer of the Year at the Esports Awards was likely due to her being a woman, implying it was a choice made for diversity reasons.
