British journalist Piers Morgan has slammed YouTuber Destiny for poking fun at a firefighter being shot dead during the alleged assassination attempt on Donald Trump on July 16.
Destiny featured on Tuesday night's episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored to discuss his comments about the alleged assassination attempt on former US President Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania.
The broadcaster called out the streamer for his comments about a firefighter who was shot dead during the rally, calling him "inhuman". Morgan said:
“You are INHUMAN! You are somebody who seems almost gleeful that a young firefighter with a family, with a wife and children who he was protecting as he was shot dead, that he deserved what was coming to him because he went to a President Trump rally, a man who was president of the United States until recently, for four years."
He added:
" And maybe, again, you sound almost gleeful, and I'm sorry. That makes you, frankly, despicable.”
The Youtuber and Morgan continued to debate the reactions to the Trump assassination attempt, as the streamer brought up the issue of the death of Nancy Pelosi's husband.
Destiny refused to condemn the alleged attempt of violence at Donald Trump, with Morgan retaliating his words as despicable and wondering why someone would listen to his stance.
Destiny explains his stance about the death of a firefighter during Trump's rally
Piers Morgan and Destiny's discussion about the streamer's supposed "gleeful" reaction to the death of a young fighter during Donald Trump's Pennsylvania rally on Saturday continued further as the Youtuber explained himself.
After Morgan accused him of having a despicable reaction to the death of firefighter during Trump's alleged assassination attempt, Destiny said he was not "gleeful" and never believed that anyone "deserves to die."
However, he drew attention to the alleged reaction of conservatives on the attack on Democratic California Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s husband. He said:
"You want to talk about gleeful, look at the conservative response to Pelosi's husband. When they broke in--- I don't care if you can answer that. The reality is that the conservatives have been turning the temperature up on the rhetoric.
The streamer continued:
"They have been making fun of these types of events for years and now when something happens to them they're looking for sympathy? On the liberal side? Absolutely not it's insane. it's unhinged!"
In response, Piers Morgan agreed that the reaction to the attack on Pelosi's husband was also "despicable", making it clear that he's happy to call out despicable behaviour on "both sides."
However, he questioned Destiny on why anyone "on the right" should listen to his stance given that he has shown "exactly the same kind of inhumane behavior" since the alleged assassination attempt on Trump. He added:
“I can see despicable behavior on all sides and I’m happy to call it out when I see it. You, however, want to present yourself as this great kind of standard bearer of decency who sees outrageous behavior on the right — time and again, and is incensed by this disgusting inhumane behavior.”
Destiny replied that his issue with Trump's supporters is not that they are "not empathetic" and he does not want to "tone police" them. He is against the fact that they support a president who tried to "insurrect the government." Morgan pointed out that 80 million people voted for Donald Trump last time.
Morgan went on to call the alleged assassination attempt on Trump as an "egregious attack on American democracy" in recent times and questioned the streamer on whether he would condemn the act at all.
Destiny refused to condemn the attack despite insistence on the broadcaster's side. He said:
"No I won't. Absolutely not."
Morgan further mentioned that his main problem about Destiny's stance on the entire matter is that he "does not have anything" that he wants the "other side to have" empathy and sympathy. He also spoke about how Trump has been compared to Adolf Hitler for the last eight years.
“Last time I checked, Donald Trump hasn't murdered 12 million people so much as you would like him to be the new Hitler, he's not. But again, to an impressionable, young, deranged mind who has easy access to guns, that can be easily be interpreted as an existential threat ... Guess what? Somebody then comes forward and tries to kill the existential threat.”
Destiny was reportedly banned on Kick and his official X account was locked after his comments on the death of a firefighter during the alleged murder attempt on Trump.
The Youtuber also revealed on social media on July 17 that his X account was temporarily demonetized due to his posts about the death of the firefighter.
