Twitch star and music commentator DJ Akademiks has reacted to Sketch's recent OF controversy. Sketch has been a hot topic of debate in the streaming industry ever since his explicit pictures from a couple of years ago went viral on social media on July 7, 2024.
With support from several Twitch and YouTube figures, Sketch recently addressed the controversy and admitted to having had sexual relations with a man. While his explanation satisfied many people on the internet, a few criticized him for covering up his past.
BruceDropEmOff even called out Sketch for it. He claimed that while the streamer’s homosexual identity was not the problem, the fact that he decided to change aliases and not talk about his OF stint before the scandal was not good.
Regardless, DJ Akademiks took the argument further while giving his take on the whole controversy and claimed that the content creator got an "upgrade" because of it:
"Let me be honest with you all ni**as. I don't know this dude, I don't watch his content, I don't have a problem against him. Save all that teary-eyed bullsh*t my brother, you just got an upgrade on your career my ni**a. Why do people act like we are in the 80s and 90s? Dawg, if you say anything derogatory to gay people you get banned anyway."
DJ Akademiks also made a racial distinction while talking about gay streamers and content creators:
"To me, I don't think he will ever be judged, I think his career is going to go up. Right now, it's profitable to be a gay-like streamer, what? A gay white streamer? Now if you were a gay black streamer, we might have to talk about it."
"That's the new gangsta, being gay": DJ Akademkis claims Sketch's OF controversy was a win
Sketch has been getting a lot of support ever since his OF pictures were shared, with people like FaZe Banks defending the Twitch star. Other streamers, like Tfue, and Kai Cenat, have also shown their support since the content creator addressed the situation in a July 8, 2024, broadcast.
However, some personalities, like Sneako, have blatantly called Sketch out for his past actions. He has received a lot of backlash for his comments, which have been labeled offensive by many in the online community.
Meanwhile, DJ Akademiks appears to have a completely different point of view. In his analysis of the controversy, he claimed that Sketch is set to get a career boost because of his past LGBTQ+ OF content:
"As soon as I saw this I was like, 'F*ck, this ni**as subs are about to go through the roof.' If I was a white man right now, I would be lying to you all saying I am gay. Being gay is lit sh*t right now, what the f*ck are you all talking about?"
DJ Akademiks also claimed that being gay is "gangsta" and congratulated the streamer:
"Yo somebody better talk to Sketch like, 'Yo Sketch. Wake up little boy, ni**a you gay. That's a win. You just went to Super Saiyan 5 on these ni**as.' That's the new gangsta, being gay, or being bisexual. Sketch, congratz my dude."
Readers should note that while addressing his past OF content, Sketch specifically noted that he is a changed person and insinuated that he would have "called it quits" without FaZe Banks. He has yet to start his regular streaming schedule since the controversy.
