"You messaged a minor": Nickmercs claims he doesn't care for the legality of Dr DisRespect's comeback statement

Kick streamer and FaZe Clan co-founder Nick "Nickmercs" recently addressed Herschel "Dr DisRespect's" comeback to YouTube streaming. For those unaware, Dr DisRespect returned to the platform on September 6, 2024, months after he admitted to having inappropriate conversations with a minor through Twitch Whisper in 2017. This admission was made by the YouTuber through a post on X, which has since been deleted.

In a YouTube video discussing the matter, Nickmercs clarified his stance regarding The Doc's focus on the legality of his actions. Furthermore, he responded to netizens who claimed that Nickmercs should have "stuck by" Dr DisRespect through this time, as the two have been friends in the past. He stated:

"He sent a text to the boys and I and he apologized for us ever being dragged into this. And it pretty much ended right there... And I know his premise, and what he's dying on is that what he did was not illegal, and look, I get that, but at the end of the day, you messaged a minor and it was inappropriate. For me, this is not about legality."

Nickmercs discusses Dr DisRespect's address of the Twitch Whisper controversy following YouTube comeback

Dr DisRespect is known for being a long-time content creator focusing mostly on the shooter genre, including third-person and first-person shooter titles like the Call of Duty franchise and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG). Meanwhile, Nickmercs is a major Apex Legends and Call of Duty buff himself.

Thus, being a prominent voice within the FPS community and having been previously affiliated with Dr DisRespect, Nickmercs stated his belief that the 42-year-old streamer was "wrong" for his actions and that he does "not care" if these actions broke any law or not.

Despite this, he did accuse certain individuals at Twitch of "plotting against" Dr DisRespect, stating:

"Now, as far as the Twitch ban. Listen, there's a lot of people there that don't make great decisions. I also have no doubt in my mind there were people at Twitch that were plotting against Doc, no doubt."

Nickmercs also pushed the idea that since Dr DisRespect was "backtracking," he should reveal the conversations that he had with the minor over Twitch Whisper. Nickmercs ended the address by stating that he does not think any differently about the situation than he did before even after the new arguments put forth by Dr DisRespect.
