Jack Doherty took to X and apologized to his cameraman for how the latter was treated after a viral car accident. Earlier, Jack went viral on social media on October 5 after he crashed his McLaren with Michael, his cameraman, in the passenger seat. The clips show Doherty using his phone while driving. Since it was raining during the incident, many blamed the streamer for the accident.
Jack Doherty has also been facing backlash for the way he handed back the camera to Michael (who was bleeding) to record the crash site. FaZe Rug called the former Kick streamer a terrible person for seeming to care more for his car than for a friend.
In a post on X on October 6, 2024, Jack apologized to the cameraman, but that has not gone down well with many. Some even went on to say that Michael should sue the streamer. Here are some general reactions which range from disdain for Jack Doherty's actions to harsh criticism:
"Your camera man should sue the hell outta you and then they should lock you up and throw away the key. Rent could not have been so overdue you needed to get your injured camera man to record the aftermath of your reckless driving," said X user @InternetH0F.
"You were on your phone speeding in the rain. You could’ve killed innocent people on the road, yourself, & the camera man. You’re a danger to society. You shouldn’t be able to stream yourself anymore. You borderline shouldn’t be able to walk around free right now. Someone’s going to die at the hands of your stupidity," stated Kick streamer LosPollosTV
"you’re disgusting and you deserve every bad thing that’s going to happen to you," said @M1das_OW2.
"Your friend was bleeding out and you were more concerned with filming the whole thing than trying to help him lmao," alleged @njhochman.
Jack Doherty claims he has learned a "huge lesson" while apologizing to his cameraman
Jack Doherty's latest post has already been community noted like his other posts about the accident. The community note on the above-mentioned post reiterates how Doherty was allegedly speeding while distracted by the rain.
Regardless, the former Kick streamer, who says he has been permanently banned from the platform, announced that he will be putting out a proper update within a day to address the issues:
"Going to post a more detailed response today but it’s been 24 hours since the accident and I just want to say how grateful I am that Michael and I are alive."
Jack Doherty also apologized to Michael for hurting him. It is not exactly clear whether the streamer was apologizing for the injuries from the accident or for asking Michael to film the crash site while he was bleeding:
"I’m so sorry Michael for putting you thru that."
Doherty also thanked first responders and claimed to have learned a huge lesson from the experience as well:
"Thank you to all the first responders and everyone who helped us get out of the car. This could’ve been so much worse and it’s a huge learning lesson."
The accident left his expensive McLaren wrecked on the side of a highway, with it having to be towed. In a previous post, Jack Doherty had revealed that he took his cameraman to the hospital as well.
