Following allegations of him being "funded" by the Russian government, YouTuber and journalist Tayler Hansen has been banned permanently from YouTube. Hansen was an employee under Tenet Media, a right-wing news reporting organization that has likely been hit with an indictment by the United States Department of Justice, supposedly for receiving funding from the Russian state-controlled media organization, RT.
As per reports by USAToday and other major media outlets, although the indictment did not refer to Tenet Media by name and called it "Company 1", Tenet Media stands as an exact match to the description provided within the document. Hansen is one of the six commentators headlining Tenet Media who have been linked to this indictment.
Talking about his removal from the video-hosting platform in a video uploaded to X by Drama Alert, Tayler Hansen can be heard stating,
"So, just permanently banned on YouTube. No explanation at all."
Tenet Media commentator Tayler Hansen banned from YouTube after Russian link scandal
As per the indictment, Tenet Media has allegedly been involved in a $10 million campaign by the Russian media company, RT. Through this campaign, RT allegedly sought to cause political disorder as well as division within the United States through social media platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and X.
Tayler Hansen revealed the details of his ban from the platform, stating that he can never "own" or "operate" a channel on the platform from now onwards:
"It says I can never own a channel and operate a channel ever again. So, that's lovely. Obviously, amidst the DOJ indictment of the alleged activites of Russian funding, you know, Tenet Media was banned almost immediately"
He further claimed that the bans came even though the indictment would consider the six commentators "victims" if the allegations did prove to be true:
"...The indictment states, you know, if these charges are true, these allegations are true. We're all victims, the people that were hosts there, and me as a reporter there... I love America y'all. Censorship is great. Keep it up."
YouTube is known for its stringent moderation policy, with strong punitive actions being taken against those who violate the the platform's community guidelines. However, these guidelines are subject to change, and recent modifications have put firearm-related content creators such as hickok45, which is run by a Father-son duo named Greg and John respectively, at risk of being removed from the platform.
