Twitch streamer Jason "Thor," also known as "Pirate Software," has gone viral on social media after becoming embroiled in some World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore drama. On January 12, 2025, a one-minute video showing Pirate Software, Yamato, Ozyfell, Snupy, and Sara progressing through the Dire Maul North dungeon surfaced on the r/LivestreamFail subreddit.

At one point, Yamato confronted Pirate Software, asking the latter why he was running from the mobs, claiming that things were "salvageable." In response, the content creator stated:

"What are you talking about why I'm walking? You see my mana? What am I supposed to do?"

Things took a turn for the worse when Snupy and Sara ended up dying in Hardcore World of Warcraft.

Later that day, another video was posted on the r/LivestreamFail subreddit from Jason's broadcast. In the clip, the former Blizzard employee was confronted by his guildmates, with Yamato asking him to "take accountability" for his actions.

Here's how Pirate Software responded:

"There's no zero accountability, dude. Everyone can do something. When you open up and you yell over another person. (Yamato says, 'Can I speak?!') Nah, I'm good. See ya. I'm not doing that s**t again with him. Nah. He did it the first time, I'm not doing it the second one. Not interested."

Over 3,300 netizens on the subreddit commented on Pirate Software's decision to leave the call after the World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore drama. Here's what they had to say:

"This dude has an ego like no other lol. Thinks he’s the smartest guy in the world," Redditor u/Efficient_Scheme_701 commented.
"When the call was made to bail, he should have: stopped dumping his mana on max-rank spells (that 0.5 second blizzard that did absolutely nothing). Used his robe (off CD), his mana gem (off CD), a mana potion (surely he had a major/superior/greater in his bags). Used r1 Blizz/r1 Nova/r1 Frostbolt/rotated Polymorphs to assist the others in getting out. He's clearly not the greatest player (can't hold that against anyone), it's more that he's just so insufferably stubborn and refuses to acknowledge any opinion on it outside of his own," Redditor u/WorriedAU remarked.
"Yamato is annoyed because the rest of the group has acknowledged their share of responsibility for the deaths and apologized to each other. Except Pirate who blames only the rest of the group and gaslights that he couldn't have done anything better when there were a dozen ways he could have helped the group with 0 risk to himself. Example: Rank 1 Blizzard from 50 yds away gives his team a much better chance with no risk to himself at all," Redditor u/Brownie10000 wrote.

Pirate Software claims he banned 2,500 viewers from his channel amid OnlyFangs World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore drama

On January 12, 2025, Matthew "Mizkif" called Pirate Software to discuss the World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore drama. When the co-founder of One True King (OTK) asked the Twitch streamer how he was dealing with "all the ridiculous comments," this is what Pirate Software had to say:

"Dude, it's wild! Like, I think we banned about 2,500 people so far and we're just reporting it all up because 99% of it just people copy-pasting something from Reddit. You know? Yeah, I think it's the same thing Sequisha dealt with the Gurubashi Arena stuff. It was the same s**t, like, 20,000 people jumping on his channel and just smashing him. So, I'm not really surprised."

Pirate Software talks about his side of the story following the recent World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore controversy

During the same call with Mizkif, Pirate Software discussed how he was facing backlash from the online community, and explained what he was instructed to do during the dungeon progression:

"A lot of the hate just kind of landed on me because [unintelligible] was seen as being able to do anything at any time, and I was told to run by our shot-caller. I ran from our shot-caller, did a couple of things in there, and I made the decision not to run."

When Mizkif asked if he "could've done more" in the situation, Jason responded:

"Of course! Yeah, I can always do more. But the thing is, was the risk worth it? In that case, probably not for me. Right? Because we had already... if you saw the run before that, did you actually see the run that happened before we even did that run? Yeah, the whole group almost wiped on that one. Same group, we were in Dire Maul, they wanted to skip the second boss, and we went up a ramp and pulled that boss in a bunch of different packs and all this s**t. We had to bail out."

Pirate Software added:

"The same group goes back in, they do this weird route, this scuffed pull of two packs and the boss. And I'm at 40% mana when they pulled, and I'm like, 'Dude! What the hell are you doing?!' It's the same s**t over again."

On December 18, 2024, Pirate Software made headlines when he accused Twitch of using AI for a global emote released during the holiday season.
