FaZe Banks is the CEO of FaZe Clan, a professional esports and entertainment organization founded in 2010. In 2024, Banks, whose real name is Richard, conducted a restructure of the FaZe clan roster, removing many members and adding a few new ones. One of the few to remain in the clan was Kaysan, who joined the organization in 2021.
FaZe Kaysan is a DJ, music producer, and Twitch streamer. His entry into the clan represented the organization’s initial foray into the music industry, having collaborated with major streamers like Adin Ross and xQc over his career.
Things seem to have turned sour between Kaysan and Banks, with the CEO threatening to remove Kaysan from the clan. The latter said he was "actually pissed" after Kaysan pulled a stunt involving fellow clan member Maxwell "Plaqueboymax".
After Kaysan threw Max's PC into the Los Angeles FaZe House pool, screenshots posted by the FaZe clan account depicted Banks removing Kaysan from the FaZe group chat. The CEO claimed he would remove Kaysan from the team, stating that this was no joking matter.
What exactly happened between FaZe members Kaysan and Banks?
It all started when Kaysan discovered a video stream where PlaqueboyMax, along with Silky and YourRAGE, had trashed his room at the FaZe content house in Los Angeles. Upset by this, Kaysan threatened to sell the Miami content house where these streamers were staying.
The situation escalated when Kaysan took revenge by destroying PlaqueboyMax's streaming PC during a live stream. He threw it into a pool despite pleas to stop by other members, including Lacy.
Many questioned why these streamers would destroy such expensive equipment. A potential reason is the clip farming sensation that exists on streaming platforms like Twitch and Kick. Essentially, streamers perform some outlandish and wild actions to generate short-format clips that resonate well on social media platforms, such as TikTok or Instagram.
In the clip above, FaZe member and Kick streamer Josh "YourRage" expressed his dissatisfaction with the environment in the FaZe house, citing a "disease" of toxic behavior that led him to move out. He said he felt out of place and uncomfortable with some members' "clip farming" mentality, including Kaysan.
On an August 14 Twitch stream, clan member Lacy threw two of Kaysan's turntables into their pool, leading to a confrontation between the two. The former claimed Lacy destroyed around $7,000 worth of DJ equipment.
Lacy pulled the stunt to avenge Plaqueboymax after Kaysan initially threw his PC into the pool.
"I'm not joking" - FaZe Banks threatens to remove Kaysan from FaZe
Pranks have been a long-standing tradition within the FaZe Clan, especially in the various FaZe houses where members live together. These pranks are often documented and shared on YouTube, becoming a significant part of the group's identity and content.
Banks has also been a victim of the chaos present at the FaZe Houses, even back during the 2014 New York days.
Fast forward to 2024, and it appears Banks does not take these 'pranks' lightly anymore, especially having spent so much on equipment that has thrown out. In an X post, he responded to Kaysan, who questioned if Banks was 'picking sides':
"You're throwing PCs in the pool I paid for??? F*ck I care about your whack-a*s PC for. Throw Max clothes in the pool, throw Jason’s f**king parents in the pool. [I don't care]. But now you’re f**king with my s*it... I’m actually pissed. This isn’t me joking."
Currently, Kaysan has announced 'The Negotiation' to hopefully sort things out with his fellow clan members.
Lacy suggested that these events are the beginning of a 'civil war' in FaZe. For fans though, the situation at the FaZe House LA has been entertaining, with many wondering how unhinged and wild the stunts could get.
