Twitch streamer and political commentator Hasan "HasanAbi" is no stranger to controversies. The streamer has faced a lot of allegations, including reportedly promoting anti-Semitic sentiments in his streams. Recent developments involving the streamer have seen a subreddit named r/Hasanpiker get banned. The official reason behind the suspension was due to "harassment." The now-banned page read:
"This community has been banned. This subreddit was banned due to a violation of Reddit's content policy against harassing content."
However, it's worth noting that r/Hasanpiker isn't Hasan's subreddit to begin with. For those curious, the streamer's actual community can be found on r/Hasan_Piker, which has over 145K members and was created in 2018. The subreddit is pretty much active and kicking.
The banned subreddit (r/Hasanpiker) was a community created to target Hasan. Some of the posts made in the subreddit included controversial instances from Hasan's livestreams such as calling a CNN reporter a "fascist." Another post was titled "Hasan goes genocide denial." Here is a screenshot from the now-banned page:
What is the recent controversy involving HasanAbi?
As previously mentioned, HasanAbi has encountered numerous controversies over the years due to his strong political opinions. Recently, he faced accusations of promoting antisemitic sentiment during his streams. These allegations were made by U.S. Congressman Ritchie Torres.
Torres recently shared a clip from one of Hasan’s streams, where the streamer allegedly downplayed the sexual violence that occurred during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. Hasan was heard saying this:
“Doesn’t matter. Doesn’t matter if f**king r*pes happened on October 7th. Like, it doesn’t change the dynamic for me even this much. So, that’s the other part of this problem that many people can’t contend with. Like…the Palestinian resistance is not perfect.”
Torres responded by labeling the above statement as 'anti-Semitic.' He wrote:
"A social media influencer who openly defends the r*pe and mass murder of Jews is not only accepted but celebrated in our society. What does that reveal about the depth of antisemitism in the American soul? If America believes Jewish lives matter, then Americans should stop popularizing influencers who popularize antisemitism."
HasanAbi has since responded to Ritchie Torres' post, calling him a "psychopath." Addressing the allegations, Hasan clarified that he does not condone any hate toward Jewish people and asserted that much of the clip Torres shared was taken out of context.
HasanAbi was also one of the top streamers on the US election day (November 5-6, 2024), reaching over 313K peak viewers, which placed him as the third most-watched streamer. The only two streamers with higher viewer counts were Bongino (515K) and Steven Crowder (416K), both streaming on Rumble.
