YouTuber and TikTok creator Brooke Schofield is currently facing some serious allegations of racism after a series of controversial tweets resurfaced yesterday (August 4). These tweets, primarily dated between 2012 and 2016, mean the online creator would have been between 12 and 16 years old when she made the controversial posts.

The posts were first shared by the verified page Pop Crave (@PopCrave) where Brooke can be seen making some contentious remarks in support of George Zimmerman an American man who fatally shot Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old African-American teenager.

In one of the posts, dated July 14, 2013 (when Brooke was 13), the online creator wrote:

"Guarantee if (George) Zimmerman shot a white guy, this wouldn't even be a story. News flash, this wasn't a crime of racism, but it was self-defense."

In another tweet (dated 12 August 2012), she controversially wrote:

"I swear I had nappier hair this morning than most African Americans on this end of our country."

Brooke Schofield apologizes following recent controversy, reveals reason being her grandparents

Online creator Brooke Schofield, co-host of the Cancelled with Tana Mongeau & Brooke Schofield podcast, has finally addressed the seemingly racist tweets that resurfaced from a decade ago. The creator took to her official TikTok account (@brookeschofield1) to say:

"I wanna acknowledge that I feel that same way about them as you do. I think they are so disturbing, they are wrong and horrible and disgusting."

She went on to explain that she was raised by her grandparents, especially her grandfather, who was an old-school conservative. She said:

"My parents were addicts so I was adopted by my grandparents when I was 10 and as is true for a lot of grandparents, they are a little bit less progressive than a lot of us are now."

Brooke Schofield also elaborated on her grandfather:

"He is a very, very right-wing conservative man. My household was literally Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, all the time and that was the only thing that I was exposed to."

The resurfaced tweets also included some posts from Brooke's mother (Fawn Schofield). She explained that she shouldn't have taken any political ideas from her:

"You guys have also seen my mom's Twitter because she was responding back and forth about the Trayvon Martin situation and I just should've known better. I know her, and I should've known that she was not somebody that I take any sort of political insight from at all."

She also mentioned that it wasn't until after college that she began to change her way of thinking, explaining that her earlier views were influenced by what she heard from her guardians.

At the time of writing, Brooke Schofield's podcast co-host, Tana Mongeau, has not yet responded to the controversy. It remains to be seen if they will resume their regular podcast schedule.
