Despite Kick being a growing platform with a host of big names involved, some streamers have already garnered a reputation for being contentious. One of the more controversial sides of Kick was on display during the recently concluded TwitchCon 2024 in San Diego, where several streamers (particularly those from the Stake.com-owned platform) faced criticism.
This story will look to delve into the notable incidents that have attracted criticism and allegations towards these streamers in the recently held TwitchCon event.
List of allegations and controversies involving Kick streamers in TwitchCon 2024
1) Kick streamer N3on accused of misgendering Twitch streamer
The first instance in this story involves a rather familiar face within the Kick streaming circle - Rangesh "N3on." On Day 1 of TwitchCon, N3on came face-to-face with a trans streamer named Vightingale, but their conversation quickly went southwards.
Following their interaction, some of the Kick streamer's viewers visited Vightingale's stream, and made some troll-worthy comments, upsetting the latter. Additionally, N3on repeatedly called them "bro," which led to accusations of misgendering and claims of "homophobia" directed at him.
2) Kick streamer Moises faces criticism over his chat
During day 2 of TwitchCon, Vightingale had another run-in, this time with Kick streamer Moises (TheRealMoisesB). Like their interaction with N3on, this one also became heated after Vightingale noticed that Moises had an unmoderated chat, which was filled with toxic comments.
Kick is often accused of harboring far-right views and creators, and Moises' unmoderated chat was filled with toxic comments, some targeting the LGBTQ+ community. Vightingale, however, quickly took action by calling on their chat to report Moises for hosting an unmoderated stream, labeling him a 'transphobe.'
3) Kick streamer DBR666 accused of harassing fellow streamers
DBR666, an IRL Kick streamer, has also been at the forefront of controversy during TwitchCon 2024. He was involved in a series of disruptive behaviors, including making sexually inappropriate comments about Felix "xQc," kissing Nick 'Nmplol' on the forehead, and pressing Knut over past allegations involving Mizkif.
DBR666 also confronted Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, who was present at the event, accusing him of not paying his employees. Due to his disruptive behavior, he was kicked out of the convention center on Day 1 of TwitchCon and is currently suspended on Kick.
4) Kick streamer Turbski1 pushes Shoovy onto a moving train
On Day 1 of TwitchCon, popular streamer Turbski1 engaged in a rather heated argument with two other streamers, DBR666 and Shoovy. During the argument, Turbski1 was seen pushing Shoovy towards the side of a moving train while they were standing by a rail track.
This action naturally garnered a lot of criticism against Turbski1, mainly because it could have severely injured Shoovy. Fortunately, the streamer was unharmed; however, he did file a police complaint against the perpetrator. Following the controversial incident, Kick banned Turbski1 from the platform.
5) Kick streamer makes inappropriate comments towards Knut's daughter
Popular Twitch streamer and strongman Knut also complained over the seemingly disruptive behavior of certain Kick streamers. Among these, one was a rather concerning one, where a streamer tried to pass inappropriate and suggestive comments at his 12-year-old daughter.
One of the streamers in question is BigLoaaf. In the controversial clip, he was seen approaching fellow streamer AnnieFuchsia and Knut's teenage daughter, appearing to make romantic advances toward them. Annie quickly rebuffed his advances.
Eddie Craven (@StakeEddie), the owner of Stake.com and Kick, has also responded to the recent controversies involving some of its streamers. He has thanked TwitchCon for allowing them to participate and stated that "few individuals" do not represent the "broader platform."
