Former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has passed away, and the news has left the online community shocked. She served as the CEO of the Google-owned platform from February 2014 to February 2023. On August 10, her husband Dennis Troper announced the news of her passing via social media and revealed that she had been battling cancer.
More precisely, Troper revealed that Wojcicki had been living with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). According to the official National Cancer Institute website:
"(NSCLC) is a type of lung cancer that occurs when abnormal cells in the lungs reproduce rapidly and out of control. It's the most common type of lung cancer and a leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. NSCLC is named for the type of cells found in the cancer and how they look under a microscope."
Susan Wojcicki's husband Dennis Troper wrote on Facebook:
"It is with profound sadness that I share the news of Susan Wojcicki passing. My beloved wife of 26 years and mother to our five children left us today after 2 years of living with non-small cell lung cancer."
He also wrote:
"Susan was not just my best friend and partner in life, but a brilliant mind, a loving mother, and a dear friend to many. Her impact on our family and the world was immeasurable."
