Twitch streamer Imane "Pokimane" is arguably the most popular female streamer. At the time of writing, she has over 9.3 million followers on her Twitch account and a further 6.63 million on YouTube. Being around for over a decade means that she has had plenty of viral moments over the years. One such occasion was when one of her no-make-up images went viral.
The no-make-up image was widely circulated after first blowing up during a stream on October 23, 2018. This was a notable departure from her usual streams since she always has make-up on. As expected, many ended up making the no-make-up look the subject of their memes and trolls. For instance, late YouTuber Muudea "Twomad" posted this:
"For all you dudes who have never had a girlfriend, this is what Pokimane looks like without makeup."
What did Pokimane say following the no-make-up image going viral?
Following her October 2018 stream, where a screenshot of her without makeup surfaced, Pokimane took to X.com to share additional photos of herself with minimal makeup. She emphasized that no one looks "good 24/7." She wrote:
"To conclude yesterday’s drama, here are some no-make-up selfies but from regular/cute angles and with natural lighting. No one looks good 24/7, and a lot of different things can affect someone’s appearance! We’re all only human, so let’s be kind to one another."
She also wrote against other trolls, stating:
"I’m going to continue being against shaming others for how they look w/o makeup, and no amount of spamming a “bad photo” of me will ever change that."
The image has periodically resurfaced online since then. However, Pokimane doesn't seem too bothered by it. In 2022, she reposted the image on her official X.com account and remarked
"This face makes more money than you’ll ever see in your life."
Despite the barrage of trolls, the former OfflineTV member has remained true to her stance, consistently sharing a positive message whenever she encounters negativity online.
