In yet another development in the ongoing drama between Minecraft content creators, Tobias "Tubbo" responded to the recent clarification provided by Clay "Dream" regarding his sharing of a meme that uses the R-word to describe fans of another fellow Minecraft YouTuber, Thomas "TommyInnit".
Reacting to Dream's statement regarding TommyInnit having "no backbone" during his recent Twitch broadcast, Tubbo said:
"To say he has no backbone, just shows how you never f**king knew him as a person when you did know him... And if you did, it's a stupid attempt to change his image. But he literally idolized Dream and he idolized Wilbur (Wilbur Soot), and when he found out how these people were as actual people. He cut them off because he has integrity and because he has a backbone."
Remarking on the nature of the members of Dream's SMP, which was an invite-only survival multiplayer Minecraft server, Tubbo continued:
"If you want to talk about no backbone, yeah! On the Dream SMP, there were some spineless a** creators. Yeah! Yeah! But Tom is not one of them. Tom is not one of them!"
"Made me quite uncomfortable": Tubbo talks about "inappropriate topics" of conversation in the Dream SMP Discord server when he was younger
Tubbo is a massively influential creator on Twitch, having over 5.2 million followers on the Amazon-owned platform. In his latest broadcast, he reacted to a Reddit comment made by Dream on the r/DreamWasTaken2 subreddit. In it, Dream talked about the backlash he was receiving due to his sharing a meme that makes use of the R-word to describe members of TommyInnit's fanbase.
This meme was shared by Dream in light of the recent feud between Kick streamer Félix "xQc" and TommyInnit, wherein the latter criticized the Canadian streamer for his viral interaction with United States President-elect Donald Trump during his collaborative livestream with Adin Ross.
In his response, xQc had claimed that TommyInnit went from "d**k-riding Dream," a reference to his time within the Dream SMP, to "making jokes to teenage girls."
Now, in his explosive address of Dream's remarks as per the now-deleted comment by him on r/DreamWasTaken2, Tubbo also talked about his own experience in the Dream SMP Discord server, and claimed that he had to deal with "uncomfortable" topics of discussion as a younger individual:
"I've had some gripes with certain inappropriate topic of conversation that happened in the Dream SMP Discord in like VCs and VC channels when I was younger, which at the time, made me quite uncomfortable but I was like, oh, this is just because I'm older now and I can be a part of these mature conversations. Now, I'm older and I look back at that... Rubs me the wrong way. It rubs me the wrong way."
While talking about Dream's mention of "double standards" when facing backlash regarding the usage of the R-word in his meme, Tubbo also disclosed Dream's crossing of "personal boundaries" in the past by contacting TommyInnit's mother:
"I think he just misunderstands why people dislike him. I dislike him for how he crossed personal boundaries and entered like personal circles of my friends in a closed-door environment, not on the internet, to get his own way.... I also have a problem with... when he messaged Tom's mom after the 'If YouTubers Were Honest...' video came out... That's a crazy betrayal of trust."
Dream recently clarified his reasoning behind messaging TommyInnit's mother in his broadcast on January 12, 2025. To those unaware, TommyInnit's mother disclosed in March 2024 that she had received a direct message from an "entitled content creator" who had written a "massive essay" to her on how her son is "bad".
