YouTube star MrBeast (also referred to as Jimmy) has reportedly made a legal move against Dawson French aka DogPack404. On August 27, 2024, a Daily Mail report stated that Jimmy had hired the services of celebrity lawyer Alex Spiro, who allegedly penned a cease-and-desist letter to DogPack404 earlier this month (the notice was confirmed by the latter).
Alex Spiro is well known among celebrities, with the lawyer recently representing actor Alec Baldwin during the trial concerning the death of Halyna Hutchins (there were allegations of involuntary manslaughter against the actor).
A Harvard Law School alumni, Spiro has also represented other big-name clients such as Jay-Z, Mick Jagger, 21 Savage, and Megan Thee Stallion. He has also worked with Elon Musk during the deal that saw him buy social media platform X (then Twitter) for $44 billion.
According to reports, Alex Spiro's hourly rates are set at around $2,205.
Why did MrBeast allegedly hire celebrity lawyer Alex Spiro? Reasons explored
MrBeast has reportedly sent a cease-and-desist letter to DogPack404 in response to the latter's seemingly incriminating video series and statements against the YouTube star over the past month. DogPack404 had confirmed receiving the cease-and-desist notice on August 1, 2024:
For those unaware, DogPack404, a former employee of MrBeast, released a couple of videos titled I Worked For MrBeast, He's A Fraud and I Worked For MrBeast, He's A Sociopath. In these videos, he made several serious allegations against the popular YouTuber.
(Note: The second video, I Worked For MrBeast, He's A Sociopath, was released after DogPack404 received the cease-and-desist notice)
To briefly summarize the allegations, DogPack404 claimed that MrBeast faked many of his videos using CGI, hosted illegal lotteries, and fostered a toxic work environment for his lesser-known employees.
Jake Weddle, another former employee of MrBeast, appeared in DogPack404's second video and added to the allegations. He claimed that Jimmy hired an individual known as "Delaware". According to Jake, "Delaware "was allegedly a sexual assault offender.
Recently, additional allegations surfaced on X, where DogPack404 compared MrBeast to the anti-Christ, essentially claiming that his seemingly philanthropic acts were a ruse. This comparison did not make it to the final upload. DogPack404 also revealed that there will be a third part to the ongoing exposé series.
Despite the host of allegations, MrBeast has kept his YouTube channel active, uploading several videos during this period. However, he has yet to respond with an official statement regarding the controversy.
MrBeast's last response regarding his team was during the Ava Kris Tyson controversy. Ava, a trans creator on his team, was alleged to have groomed a minor and sent them inappropriate messages. Following this controversy, she was removed from the most-subscribed YouTuber's team.
