The Ava Kris Tyson grooming controversy has come to a head after the MrBeast crew member announced that she would be permanently stepping away from the YouTube group in a short statement on X. For context, over the last few days several allegations against Tyson have become a topic of debate online, with videos and posts on the subject going viral.
The controversy started when Discord and Twitter (now X) screenshots attributed to Ava Kris Tyson, where she seemingly sent sexually explicit messages to a minor, were brought up by YouTubers such as Prism42. Naturally, this did not sit well with a significant section of the internet, with many calling on MrBeast to axe Tyson from his team.
As per Ava Kris Tyson's statement on July 23, 2024, it seems she and MrBeast conferred about the growing backlash and grooming allegations, collectively agreeing to terminate their professional relationship.
In the statement from her official X account, which readers should note has been wiped clean after the accusations went viral, Tyson apologized for her past actions and announced that she was stepping away from the MrBeast brand in light of the controversy:
"I would like to apologize for any of my past behavior or comments if it hurt or offended anyone. It was not my intent. Seeing recent events we’ve mutually decided it’s best I permanently step away from all things MrBeast and social media to focus on my family and mental health."
Allegations against Ava Kris Tyson explored as she steps away from the MrBeast brand
Ava Kris Tyson has been part of the MrBeast YouTube channel from the beginning. She grew up with Jimmy Donaldson, the face behind the channel, and considers him a close friend, appearing in many of his videos on the platform.
Tyson was also the main host of one of MrBeast's secondary channels Beast Reacts, which boasts over 34 million subscribers. Readers should note that the reaction content channel has not uploaded a full-length video in over a year, with the last one dated April 26, 2023.
Ava Kris Tyson's transgender identity has caused a lot of online vitriol, but MrBeast has been a staunch friend throughout, calling out transphobic comments on social media platforms on more than one occasion. However, this time, it appears that the grooming and pedophilia allegations have driven a wedge between them professionally.
Here is a quick recap of the many allegations against Ava Kris Tyson for those who are unaware. On July 22, 2024, Keemstar's @DramaAlert account on X shared a few clips from Prism42's YouTube video detailing some of the inappropriate messages that Tyson allegedly sent to a minor in the past.
Screenshots from years ago seemingly show Tyson sending a few explicit jokes to underage individuals on Discord and other platforms.
In one clip, Prism42 talked about an X post from 2018 where Tyson seemingly joked about sending user @LavaGS, who was 13 years old at the time, some explicit photos. The reported message reads:
"I posted some fire noods for you. Pls no share."
Yet another viral clip adding to the controversy was posted on social media around the same time. This one was from a YouTube video by Breone, who showcased a Discord message from @LavaGS featuring an adult joke sent to him by Tyson in 2019.
Readers should note that the minor in question has denied ever being exploited by Ava Kris Tyson, claiming that the YouTube videos are spreading lies. That said, the online backlash against Tyson has not subsided.
Keemstar has also accused Tyson of being associated with the highly controversial cartoonist Shadman and, in a post, called out the former MrBeast employee for causing him pain.
"Kris Tyson supported the Cartoon artist Shadman that drew my daughter at age 8 in a sexual manner. This is a known fact. Privately me & Kris Tyson even had a conversation about this roughly a month ago. As it’s still upsets me. This is not misinformation. This is a fact," wrote @Keemstar on X
As it stands, Ava Kris Tyson's statement and initial apology have elicited some very negative reactions. Popular YouTube streamer Valkyrae expressed her disappointment with the apology, welcoming Tyson's departure from the MrBeast brand.
As of now, Tyson has expanded on her first statement addressing the grooming and pedophilia allegations, adding more to her decision to leave MrBeast.
"I don't want these accusations to impact the hundreds of people who work at MrBeast, which is why I have stepped away," wrote Ava Kris Tyson on X.
MrBeast has yet to publicly talk about the controversy and has not addressed Ava Kris Tyson's exit from his YouTube group on any online platform.
