Why is FaZe Jasontheween being called a "stalker"? Controversy involving NewJeans explained

FaZe member and Twitch streamer Jason "Jasontheween" is currently facing "stalker" allegations from the online community. For context, Jason recently uploaded a vlog (January 3, 2025) titled "I Met NewJeans Again!" in which he was seen walking outside the K-pop group's dressing room (backstage at the Countdown Japan music festival).

This segment was later removed from the vlog. However, fans clipped it and shared it on X. In the video, the streamer was heard saying:

"Damn bro, I think I missed them (NewJeans). I was gonna knock on their door and say 'Hi' real quick and dip. But f**k..."

However, NewJeans fans did not like this behavior. A user (@Peekabokkie) called out the FaZe Clan member, labeling him a "stalker," and accusing him of being "parasocial." They wrote:

"This is stalker behavior because no actual fan would go to a concert, get backstage through another party, and expect to meet them unannounced like that. He’s not their friend. He’s parasocial and wants validation from famous people he doesn’t know for content."

FaZe Clan member and Twitch streamer Jasontheween recently addressed the call-outs and "stalker" allegations during his stream. In the video, he insisted that the clip had been taken out of context. He said:

"The K-pop motherf**kers, that don't even watch my streams, and see f**king clips out of context and make a narrative out of it."

Jasontheween even explained that he did not sneak through security and that the only reason he was backstage was because he received exclusive access. He said:

"Bro, I got backstage access. NewJeans wasn't the only artist that I saw backstage. I didn't f**king tap on her shoulder, I didn't go through f**king security, I simply said, 'Yo, hey.' That's all I said. I just said hi. otherf**kers saying that I was going through security like I snuck up..."

In the original vlog, he mentioned that he got to greet Hanni, one of the members of NewJeans. Responding to this, he insisted that the group wasn't shocked or confused in a bad way upon meeting him. Rather, they did not expect him to be there.

"I said they were shocked and confused. They weren't shocked and confused in a, 'Oh my god,m you f**king creep, what are you doing here?' They were shocked at confused because they didn't expect me to be there. They obviously recognize me and it's not like they didn't say hi back, they said hi back."

Some fans also accused Jason of "camping" outside the dressing room. However, the streamer denied the accusations and claimed he was just chilling backstage after watching their performance.

"I wasn't f**king camping. I watched their performance. After they were done, I went to the back area, and just chilled."
