Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has had quite the run with the last triple-A title from FromSoftware games, Elden Ring, completing the original in about 167 hours and the DLC version in just under a hundred hours. His gameplay was scrutinized throughout by both fans in chat and experts in Soulslike games, but Cenat persevered, with about 2,770 deaths during his gameplay.
On August 2, 2024, the streamer set himself on a mission to tackle Bloodborne, another highly-rated FromSoftware game, which was originally released in 2015. He completed the game in approximately 30 hours, but could not finish its DLC extension due to commitments with the creator group AMP, of which he is a part.
The AMP squad recently moved into a penthouse residence in New York City but had to leave soon after due to unforeseen circumstances. This led to Kai having to stream from inside a U-Haul truck at one point. Nevertheless, AMP is moving to New York and a house reveal is coming soon. The streamer said that this was another reason why he could not complete the Bloodborne DLC.
He explained his current position in a Twitch livestream:
"The reason why I [am not] finishing the game is because AMP, the group that I am part of, we have to reveal the house in New York, and shoot videos. I would play the whole thing, but we didn't have the penthouse. Us not having the penthouse, which I didn't even know was going to happen, led to me not being able to play the DLC whenever I wanted to. I explained this mad times, bro."
Kai then reassured his audience saying that he would get to the DLC whenever he could.
Cenat initiated the playthrough to bring attention to the demand for a PC remaster and possibly a remake of the game, which has been frequently requested by fans, especially recently.
Kai acknowledged that convincing the game development company might be a long shot, but considering his following and the reach he has, he could possibly nudge FromSoftware into giving fans what they want.
Fans react to Kai Cenat leaving his Bloodborne playthrough incomplete for now
Kai's playthrough of the game, as well as his decision to leave it incomplete, received a wave of negative reactions from users across X, many of whom felt that the streamer did not do Bloodborne justice.
The streamer has yet to encounter a handful of bosses from the game, X user @cuzl_2 stated that Kai has six major fights left before he can claim to have competed the original game.
"List of Bosses Kai Cenat didn't fight in his Bloodborne playthrough. (Excluding DLC and Chalice Dungeon Bosses) - Martyr Logarius, Ebrietas 'Daughter of the Cosmos', Amygdala, Darkbeast Paarl, Celestial Emissary and the Witch of Hemwick"
Others like @HorizonBronze claim that the streamer did not take his playthrough of the game seriously enough:
"Of course, Bloodborne gets this treatment man😔, he has been ignoring chat for the past 5 hours telling him to play the rest of the game. He’s not even going to play the DLC. This is infuriating man, all that talk and he treats the game like this. Bloodborne fans we took a huge L."
This sentiment was shared by other netizens as well, with @fumingbruv expressing their disappointment:
"Kai Cenat ain't getting us that bloodborne remaster after that play-through. What the f**k was that 'marathon' 😭😭"
Reacting to a clip of Kai speaking on pushing for a PC remaster of Bloodborne, @speziultra claimed the streamer was being hypocritical:
"Bro talked like this but skipped almost every optional boss, rushed through everything, and got mad he was stuck on a boss [because of] the rushing, and screamed. Then, he does not want to explore the game and uses an exploit... Kai Cenat did Bloodborne no justice at all."
Some, like @manitzashton, voiced strong opinions:
"Kai Cenat is single-handedly responsible for making all these dumb kids think Elden Ring is the best game ever and that Bloodborne sucks. Kai has the attention span of a kid that's why he makes content for them and can't play games properly."
Overall, Kai Cenat did not fight the optional bosses in Bloodborne during his marathon stream, leading to some disappointment among fans who wanted a more comprehensive playthrough. The streamer's Bloodborne expedition had almost 150,000 fans watching at one point, so it could be worthwhile for Kai to revisit the game in the near future.
