YouTuber Jimmy "MrBeast's" upcoming show Beast Games is facing a new set of accusations, this time being levied by the production workers participating in the filming of the show in Las Vegas. This comes nearly a week after MrBeast and Amazon Studios were hit with a lawsuit, with its extensive list of allegations emerging out of a leaked court document.
As per the report made by Las Vegas-based KSNV (Channel 3), approximately two dozen individuals have come forward to speak about the alleged poor management and safety issues under Beast Games' production team. This was done under the condition of anonymity as many individuals have signed non-disclosure agreements. This article explores the allegations made by these individuals in detail.
Exploring the new allegations by production workers participating in filming of MrBeast's Beast Games
Alleged treatment under MrBeast's producers
As per the report, a production worker claimed that Beast Games' filming was "the most unprofessional production" he had been a part of. Furthermore, he claimed that MrBeast's team being "blacklisted" would not be out of the question considering the circumstances of the shoot.
The Las Vegas production was specifically for an "episode zero" of Beast Games, which is supposedly scheduled to be released on YouTube. This episode features 2,000 contestants going against each other to be a part of the 1,000 individuals who would move forward to the main part of the competition.
During the filming of this episode between July 18 to July 21, 2024, contestants remained inside the Allegiant Stadium field and were supplied sleeping bags. Furthermore, portable restrooms were set up on the field to accommodate the participants.
However, a participant supposedly came up to the staff with a sleeping bag covered in excrement as she had slept near one of the restrooms, which had overflowed. For context, it has also been reported that most higher-level managerial positions like producers, worked directly under MrBeast. In contrast, positions such as contestant wrangler and talent coordinators were filled by local talent.
Allegedly, a MrBeast producer tasked a contestant wrangler, that is, an individual responsible for handling the contestants, to clean it up. The producer also supposedly threatened the wrangler with termination upon showing hesitation.
The wrangler was also not provided with the appropriate equipment or training on handling human waste, having to find gloves on their own. The producer was later reprimanded, but the ordeal supposedly made for an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) violation, as per the accusing Las Vegas worker.
Confiscation of medication and undergarments
With individuals not being allowed to bring in any personal belongings, items such as medications and undergarments had been collected and were supposed to be redistributed later.
However, as corroborated by previous allegations, the participants had trouble accessing their medication during the filming. Workers have also alleged a lack of communication and impromptu decision-making as being the reasons behind such hang-ups.
Condition of participants during filming
Workers also supposedly reiterated previously made allegations of an individual suffering seizures during the shooting process. On the other hand, constants allegedly lied on medical forms to gain entry to the competition and even stole items from other participants to gain an edge within the competition or for personal gain.
Older participants, such as an 82-year-old woman, were also injured during the physical events of the competition, which included activities such as sprinting and partaking in a tug-of-war. With such events being catered to physically active young men, older participants were at risk of injury. Moreover, workers and contestants have also alleged that participants engaged in physical assaults against each other.
