American actress Minka Kelly shed light on her relationship with her boyfriend, Imagine Dragons singer Dan Reynolds. The 44-year-old actress, who recently starred on the Netflix romantic western television series, Ransom Canyon, recalled how her partner helped her prepare for her concert pianist role.
While Minka Kelly and Dan Reynolds like to keep their relationship private, the two have been officially linked since late 2022. And now, according to PEOPLE, while appearing on the April 22, 2025, episode of TODAY with Jenna & Friends, the actress admitted that her Imagine Dragons singer boyfriend came in handy while she was learning how to play piano for her role of Quinn O’Grady.
“He helped me a lot," she said.

While the actress confirmed that she also had a piano teacher in Albuquerque, she shared that Dan Reynolds would help her with piano learning at home.
"Because at home he’d help me translate — I can’t read music — so he would show me how it’s done."
The Friday Night Lights alum also told Jenna Welch Bush Hager, the host of TODAY with Jenna & Friends, that she remembers all three songs that she had learned for the show and can still play them.
Minka Kelly and Dan Reynolds’s relationship explored
Minka Kelly and Dan Reynolds were first seen together in 2022 while on a long dinner date at the Los Angeles restaurant Cafe Stella. The latter also shared with PEOPLE in July 2024 that they were introduced by a mutual friend and talked on the phone before meeting in person.
As the two confirmed their relationship, they made several appearances in 2024 together to watch sports tournaments, including the Super Bowl game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, a soccer match for the U.S. Women’s National Team between Inter Miami and the Los Angeles Galaxy, and the UFC 303 event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In his July 2024 interview with PEOPLE, Dan Reynolds also shared that Minka Kelly has a good relationship with his four children, including Arrow, Valentine, Gia, and Coco, whom he shares with ex-wife Aja Volkman.
“The kids really love Minka and really love their mom, and that’s okay. We view it as kind of bonuses to the family: more people to love, more people to help.”
Dan also confirmed that to two had also traded their artistic work even before they met in person. While the singer shared some of his songs, Kelly, in return, shared a draft of her memoir, Tell Me Everything.
Dan Reynolds’s cameo in Ransom Canyon
Dan Reynolds also made a cameo in the Netflix series Ransom Canyon. The actress shared to the outlet in April 2025 that she was asked if Dan would play a character.
"They just asked one day, 'Do you think he'd play this character?' And I just was like, 'Let me ask him.'"
Although Reynolds agreed to star in the series, Minka Kelly revealed that her 37-year-old beau was nervous to be in front of the camera. Notably, he made a cameo in episode 9, “About Forever,” in the series as Billy, and shared the screen with Josh Duhamel and Eoin Macken.
"I'm like, how could you be nervous? With what you do? I guess it's just a different environment."
