Comedian Terrence K. Williams continued to troll Katy Perry and Gayle King over their 11-minute trip to space as part of the six-person all-female crew on Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin flight on April 14. The Blue Origin trip faced backlash after many accused the flight of being wasteful by consuming resources to send celebrities to space without a clear purpose.
On April 22, 2025, Williams took to X to share a video of him parodying Katy Perry kissing the ground after her return to Earth. The comedian trolled the singer and the rest of the crew by saying:
"This space trip, it wasn't just us going out of space. It was us going out of your space to give you space so that when we come together, we feel unity within our space. And that 11-minute trip to space, it made me realize that this dirt is not just dirt.
"This dirt is life. It's life. We didn't see dirt when we went to space. This is life. We really hope that this trip we made changed your life and brought us together in unifying the world to appreciate everything. Even these biting ants."
Terrence K. Williams was not the only one to criticize the Blue Origin flight. Celebrities like Olivia Munn and Olivia Wilde have also called out the trip for being "gluttonous" and tone-deaf given the current economic climate. Additionally, the fast-food franchise Wendy's trolled Katy Perry after her return from the trip, commenting on social media at the time:
"Can we send her back."
Exploring Terrence K. Williams' previous criticism of Katy Perry's Blue Origin flight
This is not the first time Terrence K. Williams has criticized Katy Perry, Gayle King, and the rest of the Blue Origin crew for their 11-minute space flight. In an X post on April 17, Williams quoted Perry's speech after her return, in which she claimed the crew was "making space for the future" and dubbed the journey "a supernatural one."
The comedian criticized the singer for her remarks and stated that Elon Musk was the "real hero" for saving "two stranded astronauts." For context, Williams is referring to Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who spent over nine months on the ISS. Their eight-day mission was extended indefinitely after their aircraft encountered technical problems. They returned last month via a SpaceX aircraft.
"GIRL BYE ! You have to be kidding me That 11 minute space trip didn’t bring all Americans together Katy Perry has lost her mind @elonmusk saved two astronauts but the 11 minute celebrity trip to space is getting more media coverage. People are calling them Heroes but Elon used Space X to save two stranded astronauts ELON IS THE REAL HERO!" Williams' post was captioned.
The Blue Origin flight took Katy Perry and her five crew members, including Jeff Bezos' fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, on a journey more than 62 miles above Earth. Upon her return, Perry kissed the ground, with Gayle King following suit.
In a statement after her return, Perry said the space trip left her feeling "super connected to life" and "so connected to love."
In other news, Katy Perry will embark on her "Lifetimes Tour" to promote her latest music offering, 143. However, the tour encountered a minor setback before it started as the singer was forced to cancel two May dates in Guadalajara, Mexico, because the arena was still under construction. The first show is set for April 23 in Mexico City.
