The Blue Origin trip faced backlash after many accused the flight of being wasteful by consuming resources to send celebrities to space without a clear purpose.
On April 22, 2025, Williams took to X to share a video of him parodying Katy Perry kissing the ground after her return to Earth. The comedian trolled the singer and the rest of the crew by saying:
"This space trip, it wasn't just us going out of space. It was us going out of your space to give you space so that when we come together, we feel unity within our space. And that 11-minute trip to space, it made me realize that this dirt is not just dirt.

For context, Williams is referring to Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who spent over nine months on the ISS. Their eight-day mission was extended indefinitely after their aircraft encountered technical problems. They returned last month via a SpaceX aircraft.
