Matthew Okula, husband of nursing influencer Hailey Okula, recently shared a touching post on the social media platform Instagram. Remembering his late wife on Easter, April 20, 2025, Matthew shared a series of images and videos on Instagram.
“To my angel (because I know you’re keeping tabs on me running your business), today is Easter, and it’s impossible not to feel the weight of you not being here with us. Just when I think the pain couldn’t be deeper, it is."
Hailey Okula, a 33-year-old ER nurse known online as "Nurse Hailey," passed away last month from complications related to childbirth, according to US Magazine.
Hailey was a registered nurse in Los Angeles and had dealt with infertility for almost two years. She openly shared her pregnancy journey on social media with her followers.
How did Hailey Okula pass away?
Matthew Okula, on April 1, 2025, confirmed via an Instagram post that his wife and nursing influencer, Hailey Okula, had passed away after rare complications during childbirth. Talking to Fox11LA, he said:
“She had cardiac arrest. The doctors say it was from a very, very rare complication known as amniotic fluid embolism. There’s no treatment, there’s no way of diagnosing it. It’s so sad to think of other people having to go through what I’m going through right now.”
Speaking to the news portal earlier this month, he revealed that the late influencer briefly saw their son, who is named Crew, before needing to be resuscitated. Hailey welcomed her first child via C-section.
“We both looked at him and … we had a quick little laugh there, she had a little tear on her face. Me and Crew walked out of the room and they said they were finishing up, she’ll be there in a moment,” Matthew said.
