The Atlanta Dream and Las Vegas Aces will be eager to regain some positive momentum as both teams head into this Friday’s WNBA matchup at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Paradise, Nevada, on the back of defeats. The Dream has lost its last three consecutive games, while the Aces have won only two of its last five games. Thus, securing a victory will be crucial for whichever team prevails.

The hosts head into this game off the back of a 93-90 loss on the road against the Dallas Wings and currently sit fifth in the WNBA standings, one game behind the fourth-placed Seattle Storm. Consistency has been a major problem for Becky Hammon's team.

Meanwhile, the Dream has had an impressive start to the season after the Olympic break, winning three and losing three so far. Despite losing to the Indiana Fever and Phoenix Mercury, Tanisha Wright's team looked impressive in wins against the Connecticut Sun and Seattle Storm.

Atlanta is desperately looking for a win to give them a chance of staying in the playoff race. They are currently one game behind the Chicago Sky. A victory on Friday would see them level with the Sky for the eighth and final playoff spot.

Tanisha Wright remains without Aerial Powers, who is still recovering from a calf injury, while Cheyenne Parker-Tyus is listed day-to-day due to a leg injury. It would not be a surprise to see her return to the starting line-up for this crucial encounter.

If not, the squad is likely to be unchanged, with Naz Hillmon, Tina Charles, Allisha Gray, Jordin Canada, and Rhyne Howard as the starting five. Meanwhile, Haley Jones and Nia Coffey are more likely to contribute off the bench.

As they say, sometimes no injury report news is good news, so the Aces will be fired up to bounce back.

Megan Gustafson filled in for Alysha Clark in the starting lineup for the last two games. She had a strong performance in the first game, scoring 13 points and hitting 3 out of 5 from 3-point range. However, she struggled in the second game, scoring zero points.

Becky Hammon might be tempted to bring Clark back into the starting lineup alongside A'ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young.

Atlanta Dream vs. Las Vegas Aces: What to expect

This will be the 43th time the two sides face each other in the league, with the Aces winning 24 to the Dream's 18. The Aces have also lost just one of their previous seven games against the Atlanta outfit and will look to continue this trend on Friday.

However, you can never rule out the underdogs in the WNBA, especially considering the two teams' recent results.
