Rebecca Lynn Hammon is a prominent Russian-American basketball coach and former player who serves as the head coach of the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA. She was Born on 11th March 1977 in Rapid City, South Dakota, U.S. Hammon's basketball career as a player began at Stevens High School and then shifted to Colorado State University. During the 1998-99 season, she was honoured as an All-American and was named Colorado Sportswoman of the Year. Her outstanding performance led her team to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament that same year. In recognition of her contributions, she was inducted into the Colorado State Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. Following her college success, Hammon joined the WNBA in 1999, starting with the New York Liberty before moving on to the San Antonio Silver Stars.

Harmmon’s WNBA career as a player was marked by numerous achievements. She was named to the All-WNBA First Team in 2009 and became only the seventh player in WNBA history to surpass 5,000 career points, reaching this milestone in 2011. Outside of the WNBA In 2008, she gained Russian citizenship, enabling her to compete for Russia in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.
